Vehicle Detail

MGAs sure are beautiful cars. A timeless and classic design. This car is no longer such a beauty. In short I have one complete car, 1957, and one 1958 frame and various parts. The 1957 is complete. It is quite rusty but perhaps using the fenders and such from the 58 you could restore it. Very ambitious project to be sure. I've certainly seen worse. This car sat outdoors for probably 10 or 15 years. The previous owner claimed it was nice then and ran/drove well. He pulled it out to put a concrete floor in his pole bar, and then during a party at his house someone clipped the passenger rear fender and he quit driving it. For some reason this car never made it back in. Sad but true. You can see the damage to the fender in my photos. I did manage to fire the engine up briefly on dribbled in gas, it sounded very healthy! I don't know if it is the original but the number on it's data plate is "BP 15 GB 11473". It is still holding the old antifreeze and apparently is sound, no obvious leaks. Same for the radiator and heater I guess. The hydraulics are all dead. The engine did show oil pressure on the starter alone, but I didn't get a look while I had it running, sorry. It has larger than standard SUs on it (?) I think. Some of the interior is perhaps usable, the seats and door panels. Gauges look decent, all of the hardware is intact. The doors, hood, trunk lid are salvageable. The rest I'd say are not unless you are pretty good with fabrication. Again, I've seen people save far worse. The extra front fender and rear fenders are solid, no rust through. They aren't virgin by any means, some minor dents already been bondoed once, but with TLC they could be used. The windshield on the car has a cracked corner, the extra windshield/frame is good. The extra hood, doors, and deck lid are pretty good. The doors have some dents with filler but none are heavily rusted. These parts were stored indoors. I have an extra tranny, and most of the parts engine, in pieces. Also an extra radiator. Pair of wind wings in trunk, see photo. The extra frame is actually pretty solid. No rust out, but plenty of surface rust. The only poor section, IMHO, are the front bumper horns. They appear to have taken a hit and were crudely straightened. Overall the frame looks pretty darn solid and is complete with all suspension, steering, odd bits. Wire wheels look pretty solid too, but again need refinished. Tires/tubes hold air but the tires look ancient. I have a good Ohio title for the car. I have the VIN tag and an Ohio title for the parts car too. It was signed off years ago by the owner but not notarized. A "friendly" notary would solve that if you need that title and VIN per se. If you can't take it all consider leaving what you have to (or want to) and listing it for sale. Have whomever pick it up from me. Or, I can relist it, take a 15% fee over expenses if you wish. Just throwing options out there----. There are far more items than pictured here. I can send more photos if you send me your email address. Feel free to call me, Doug 937 231 0193. I'm also going to be listing a mighty fine MGC GT project. Good solid car in this case. Thanks for looking!
