Vehicle Detail
1931 Ford Highboy Rare *Thickstun* Parts Nostalgic 50‘s Hot Rod People stop and stare at this hot rod more then any others while at cruises and car shows. She just has that look of “yesterday”. Her parts, her quality build, her hard to find parts. Everyone one young and old stares endlessly at the car, reminding them of what hot rods looked like back in the day. The engine compartment often becomes a topic of much discussion. Partly because many haven't seen the old school parts, and just as many because they know just how rare they are... There is an amazing amount of “search time” in this build. She was not just thrown together. Titled as a 1931 Ford Roadster, with '29 fiber body, 31 rails and a 32 grill and shell. Has extremely rare and desirable Thickstun equipment on a V8 Flathead with Banjo Rear-end. Her exhaust runs through a set of Smithy’s. She has a metal louvered rear trunk and hand painted red and white scallops throughout. Also, dual Stromberg carbs, Thickstun intake and valve covers, 12 volt system, Mooneyes style tank and real vintage unrestored Banjo steering wheel. Authentic 50‘s style old school hot rod, that is very drivable and will fit larger sized people, as I am 6’5” and pushing 300pds and drive it quite easily. She is not a finicky hot rod and is easy to drive, doesn't get hot and shifts through her 3 speed smoothly. I have owned a few hot rods over the years and appreciate the ones that drive at speed, stop, turn and don't get hot! Rest assured that when you get her, you can just hop in and cruise. Specs: Titled as a 1931 Ford V8 Flat head Thickstun Valve Covers Thickstun Intake Dual Stromberg Carbs 3 Speed Manual Banjo rear-end Smithy’s exhaust Mooneyes aluminum fuel tank 12 volt system 32 Grill and steel shell External fan Wire wheels V8 center caps New tires Banjo Steering Wheel Tilt windshield (still works) Working doors Carpeted Trunk and interior Black Vinyl seating Exterior: 31 Rails with an fiber ’29 body finished in Satin black with hand painted red and white scallops. She has an excellent stance and can hold two full size people in her cockpit. Grass roots drag racers needed parts that were lighter than steel and cheaper than hand formed aluminum. Enter the world of Fiberglass reproductions. Interior: Fresh looking carpet and like new black vinyl seating. Vintage real Banjo steering wheel. Has two seat belts for added safety. Both doors have latches and easily open and close. Engine/Trans: Flathead V8 powered with a 3 speed transmission that is reliable and easy. Amazing vintage Hot Rod parts from Thickstun intake to Stromberg carbs to a 40‘s Banjo rearend. No need to keep a trickle charger on her or alter your plans to get her ready to cruise, just hop in and drive her, she drives great and is reliable. Such a quality build you will appreciate the cruise and her vintage parts look great. Trim: Has tilt front windshield that still works great, a minor note that some of the windshield glass is delaminating but this in no way effects its drivablity. The overall trim appearance is great. Take a look at the photographs and you’ll see the quality in her build. I don't know how many people have told me that they want to build their hot rod just like it..... Please take a look at this additional link of photographs of this car, they can be viewed larger and they are also more extensive..... http://web.me.com/octanewriter/Site_8/Welcome.html In the beginning race cars were either steel or aluminum. Steel was heavy and aluminum was expensive. Grass roots drag racers needed parts that were lighter than steel and cheaper than hand formed aluminum. Enter the world of Fiberglass reproductions. One of the pioneers in the field of fiberglass drag race components was Anderson Industries, also known as Ai Fiberglass. Ai Fiberglass was opened in 1962 by Dave Anderson and his dad in a small shop in Curtis Bay, Maryland. The dimensions of this hot rod fit, but it is uncertain who the body builder is. This is a very solid Hot Rod that is easy to drive and ready to show.
