Vehicle Detail

Due to my being layed-off, I am selling what I considered what was to be my "last" car, my Ferrari 348 GTS. I've owned over 80 cars, including nine Porsches, a 308 Ferrari, a De Tomaso Pantera, BMW M3's, Jaguar XKE's, Muscle cars (SS396 Chevelles), and many others. This by far is the best car I have ever owned. It pains me to no end to sell her, but bills are stacking up. I bought this car a bit over 2 years ago after a detailed inspection and history check. She was originally sold by Ferrari of San Francisco, who also performed the 15,000 mile service. I am painstaking in the care of my cars, so when I brought her home, I immediately performed a complete maintenance on her, including the following: New Catalytic converters installed (later changed to Hyper-Flow cats - more on this later); new air filter (K&N); new plugs; new O2 sensors; hydraulics completely drained, refilled and bled; coolant drained, engine flushed, radiators removed and pressure tested/cleaned, re-installed, system re-filled and properly bled, oil-change, fuel-filter change, complete brake inpection, all bearings checked, timing belt inpected, transaxle fluid changed (synthetic 75W-90W) and on and on. I spent well over $2500 in parts alone after buying the car for over $42,500. In the last 1,000 miles, I installed new tires (stock OEM size, Fusion ZR1's), cleaned and painted the brake calipers Ferrari yellow with ceramic paint, installed Hyper-flow catalytic converters ($1500), installed new pryometers (stock exhaust temp. sensors), modified the exhaust (removed one of the two resonators for less back-pressure), removed, cleaned and re-connected all the engine electrics, replaced any cables showing any signs of wear, had the alternator rebuilt (voltage was a bit low), replaced all belts except the timing belt(s), replaced hood sruts, and on and on. I change the oil with Castrol 10W-40 (Ferrari recommended weight) every 4 months, regardless of mileage. The engine burns no oil that I have ever measured. She just passed CA's stringent smog testing last April 2010, and easily passed, emmiting less than 30% of allowable emissions. The car's paint is gorgeous, even after 20 years. It has been carefullly maintained, after a clay detailing and careful buffing and waxing. This upgrades to the intake and exhaust have resulted in a phenomenal performance improvement with no detriment to the cars reliability (in fact, she runs far better than stock!). The expensive Hyper-Flo catalytic converters are reputed to increase horespower by at least 15-20%, the less restrictive air filter is reputed to increase horsepower 5%, and the less restrictive exhaust another 5-10%. This means that my 348 is faster than any stock 348, and close to if not equal to Ferrari 355 performance (but without the headache of notorious Ferrari 355 burned valve risk). Her clutch and transmission operate flawlessly, by the way. I drive her regularly down the coast and back (200 miles round-trip) at least bi-monthly, and every 1-2 weeks I drive her for at least 20-50 miles. When she is not running, she is stored (covered) in my garage with a battery trickle charger installed. It should be noted that there is a tastefully installed digital voltmeter and radar detector in the shifter console. She does have a few signs of wear, as should be noted with any Ferrari that is driven. There are a few paint chips in the front, the front-air dam has had minor repair (the car has a long front overhang and is very low) but nothing serious, and there is a small "wave" on the roof where my elbow caused a barely noticeable distortion during waxing. Also, the fuel-guage is not accurate, so I disconnected it, and use the odometer to determine fill-ups. That's about it - the interior is beautiful with custom sewn-in logo floormats, there is a custom Alpine stereo with a 6-disk CD changer mounted in the front boot. My reserve price is based with the following considerations: 1) Some buyers may want to perform an engine-out service, though the timing belt shows no signs of wear - I have considered this, and deducted $5,000 off my reserve for this 2) I have also deducted $1,000 for repainting the front bumper (even though the pictures show that the paint chips are really insignificnt) 3) I am going to deduct $300 for a new fuel-guage, 4) I am going to deduct $100 for a new oil-drain plug - its a bit worn. 5) The chrome wheels have some very minor pitting (not noticeable unless one really looks hard, but I'm going to deduct and additional $500 for any re-chroming. I want to ensure that the buyer understands that this is an incredible offer, but alos want to ensure her new owner will take ecellent care of her, as I have. Given all the above, my reserve is $27,500. I am very doubtful that one could procure any CLEAN titled 348 in this condition at this price. Any bids above this would be much appreciated, as, at this price, I am taking a bath; however, medical bills are due and I am hoping for a successful sale with a happy buyer. If you check my feedback, any/all vehicles I have sold on eBay have been considered as exceptional by their new owners. I keep all my vehicles in perfect condition, being past the point of "anal" in their care, and this Ferrari is no exception. I am certain her new owner will be thrilled. I am in the Bay Area of CA, and welcome any inspections. On Oct-30-10 at 17:42:28 PDT, seller added the following information: Please note that my Ferrari is listed for sale locally and on other sites. The first to offer the reserve wins the car!
