Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a 1973 Datsun 240Z. These cars are rapidly becoming quite the collector car. This car was stored inside from 1981 until I bought it in July of 2005. It only had 55750 miles on it. The car was originally "918 Orange" and had a cheap red paint job getting overspray all over the car. The engine compartment was sprayed with rattle-can undercoating, very messy to remove, but it kept everything rust free. The car also was treated to a Ziebart undercoating job at the original dealer. (Those are the small black plugs you see) Everything was removed until I had a bare chassis and the Z was painted bare. The brand new hood, deck lid, doors, new front fenders, sugar scoops (headlight buckets) and cowl were all painted separate using Glasurit basecoat-clear coat. The engine ran great, so I only put all new seals and gaskets in it. The 4 speed Trans was replaced with a 1982 5 speed rebuilt transmission. A rebuilt R200 3.70 rear was installed with new CV joints installed on the axels. The early Z cars originally had U-joints installed on short axles and were a source of vibration. I believe that’s why this car was parked, as I was told the Trans had problems when it actually was loose u-joints on the axles. I used CV adapters from Modern Motorsports for the conversion. All suspension pieces were blasted, painted and new urethane bushings installed. I removed the 1973 Flat top carbs, notorious for flat spots and hard hot starting, and installed a set of Triple Webers. The car runs great on these carbs. The car runs very nice, sounds great and no smoke. There is a hidden switch inside the car for the new Mallory fuel pump, an extra measure of anti-theft. The fuel tank and lines were removed and cleaned. Every piece of rubber was replaced with new Nissan parts, no aftermarket stuff was used. All new badges and too much hardware to list were replaced with Nissan parts. Nissan still supplies a lot of parts for the early Z cars. The hardware that was not replaced was sent out to be re-cad plated. The interior is in very nice condition, no dash cracks due to being stored inside most of its life. Very nice pair of Acura GSR black leather seats were installed. They are very comfortable on long drives. They have separate lumbar and bottom tilt controls and I have plenty of leg room at 6 foot tall. Everything got Dynomat on it,the car rides nice and quiet. I still have the stock seats for the buyer, along with the stock Trans and rear. New Michelin 205/60/15s were installed on new American Racing slotted wheels. Has a beautiful wood Nardi steering wheel installed. I have the original also. What doesn’t work… the clock and radio, that’s it? Both floors were replaced and it looks like they did a nice job. Right after I bought this car my first child was born, so I just don’t have time anymore to drive it. Unfortunately, it just sits in the garage most of the time. There is no reason you couldn't drive this car home, it cruises very nicely in 5th gear. I will work with the buyer with any shipping needs. Any questions or pictures, just e-mail me. Thanks for lookingOn Oct-18-10 at 16:45:23 PDT, seller added the following information: A few things I forgot and have recieved questions about. The car has Motorsport headers, nice quality with thick flange, no leaks and quiet. Coated with Aerospace Thermal Coating. Rebuilt Distributer with Pertronix Electronic Ignition and Flame Thrower high output coil. New clutch and pressure plate. New 1984 high output alternator with built in voltage regulator with new Optima battery. Heavy duty solenoid kit for headlight upgrade. New heater core and heater control valve. Tokiko 1" drop springs and Tokiko High performance shocks and struts. New Nissan 1970 front bumper and brackets, no holes. New windshield with new front, rear and quarter window rubber.
