Vehicle Detail
I know the body is rusty but the frame and suspension is in suprisingly good condition and all the trim is there and it looks like the front has never been hit. It really is too original to part out and I'm suprised it hasn't been all hacked up from previous "restorations" but looking at the last tag on the license plate (from 1982!), we can see the car was only on the road for 9 years and it has been sitting for the last 28 years. It is complete down to the hubcaps with only one rear bumperette missing and the interior drivers door panel stuff. Which is probably why this car was taken off the road back in '82; the drivers door doesn't open. Looks like the previous owner was going to fix the door and never quite got 'round to it... I've included a Ton of pictures and all in large size so you can see all the details about this car before you bid. I can ramble on about the car but pictures speak a thousand words so be patient while I list a few additional details about it and by that time all the pictures below will have loaded. The rust is basically the sheetmetal and definitely the floor pans. The frame and suspension are solid and the car jacks up normally without undue flexing so the frame is sound. I shot a couple pics of the suspension so you can see how rust free (w/ normal surface rust) the pieces are. Both doors are in good shape with no bubbling at the bottom pinchweld area. The rockers have rust and the one missing rocker trim spear is actually included with the car. The riveted firewall tags read "T 7242 CF" for the upper tag and the lower tag reads "T 7247 CF" [paint and primer codes? If one of you Triumph experts could enlighten me that would be great]. The tag on the left post of the windshield reads "CF7144U" and the engine number is "CF7547UF" I'd love to tell you the engine starts and runs but the reality is there is no key so we don't even know if it turns over. The engine has oil in it and the block doesn't have any holes so that's good but I'll state the engine needs to be rebuilt because we don't know anything more about it. The miles read 66,457 and both the carburetors read "175 CD-2 Stromberg" on the top of the pots. The 4 speed manual transmission shifts and the gate pattern feels correct shifting through all the gears; there are a bunch of numbers cast into the transmission and they read as follows starting on the left side drivers side: "Stanpart" and "V2702" and "305048". The right side passenger side transmission numbers read "V2947" and "88306812-8 SM". Hope all those numbers make sense to everyone. The clutch reservoir is dry as is the brake reservoir which would be expected for sitting 28 years. Brakes are front disc and rear drum. The front end looks like it has never been hit, there are no wrinkles that I can find anywhere in the front inner sheet metal. The airdam is intact and solid and the front bumper is nice. There is a light push at the rear valance just to the left of the license plate, hopefully you can see it doesn't affect how the taillights align or how the bumper sits so it truly is a light dent. All the lighting lenses are original Lucas plastic, some rear lights are cracked but the fronts are very good. I didn't check the headlights to see if they have been replaced. Gauges look good, faces are bright, good glass lenses and the dash wood looks good and sound too with some shellac peeling. Your new TR-6 is located in Seattle, WA and it's best to call before emailing if you have any questions. I'm available anytime 8-8 PST 7 days a week at 206 725-2355 (leave a message if I don't pick up). Title was lost years ago (we couldn't find the key either) and the VIN was purged years ago so there isn't a record of this car found in the Department of Licensing database anymore. If you really must have a title for your new TR6, I have a title attorney friend in Utah that can get you a title in your name for this car-call me for details.
