Donated to a local charity by the ORIGINAL owner, this car was stored for almost a generation in a garage, and later to a carport where unfortunately the paint began to fade a bit. The paint is original, and will polish out in areas, but there is also some surface rust beginning to appear on primarily the hood and left front fender. The chrome is also beginning to pit in areas, but if polished would probably have a nice patina. All rubber door and window seals still appear soft and pliable. Inside is amazing! the drivers seat shows no wear, and even the pedal pads are nice, which gives credibility to the 23k mileage claim. The carpet is original and still very nice, and unlike any you will find on a restored Olds. The upholstery is also completely original, and a really interesting fifties pattern. All silver piping is intact and beautiful. As a top of the line 98 series, this car features power windows, power seat, power antenna, and the AM tube radio. All of which work! Even the cigarette lighter works. In fact, the only thing I could find that did not work was the clock. Mechanically it has been sitting for years, so of course it will need the gas tank cleaned and the brakes rebuilt. However, it cranks nicely and when the Rocket V8 was fed gas through the carb, it eagerly came to life and sounded smooth. A real time warp car that is very difficult to find in this condition today. This 1956 Oldsmobile 98 Hardtop Sedan has only 23K miles, and is an amazingly original California black plate survivor.
