Vehicle Detail
Hello Fellow British motorcycle fans, I am selling my 1974 Triumph Bonneville 750 to the lucky highest bidder. This motorcycle is one of the most limited production 750 Bonnevilles produced because of an English union work stoppage known as the Meridan blockade. You can look it up but in a nut shell, the Triumph factory workers pretty much shut down production over a labor dispute with management and only 900 and some motorcycles total were produced that year( not sure how many were 5 speed Bonnevilles). This model is fairly unique in that it was the second year fitted with a front disc brake and the last year to have the English standard right side shifter. This Bonneville is also equipped with a factory 5 speed transmission. I purchased this motorcycle from the second owner a few years ago. He was a retired motorcycle mechanic from Sacramento, Ca that had owned it since the 1970s. It had been well preserved in his garage under cover and lots of cosmoline for almost 20 years. After I got it running (battery, clean fuel), I took it to John Ireland of Santa Barbara Red line Triumph fame. Together we rebuilt and rejetted the carbs, torqued the heads, resealed the engine covers, set to perfection the stock point type ignition, replaced throttle cables and some misc. rubber parts. The motorcycle starts on the first or second kick every time and runs smooth and strong. There are no oil leaks ( I know its a triumph so check the oil). The tank was re painted and in a box when I got it and is perfect but I do prefer the look of hand pinstriping. The chrome on the wheels and fenders is all original and outstanding. There is some minor pitting on the headlight assembly but i decided not to replace it so it is as original as possible. The tires are 1970s period original with some minor sidewall checking but good tread. The seat has not been recovered and besides some Triumph logo fade is in great shape. The frame has not been repainted and still has the factory" Made In England" stickers. The motorcycle had the turn indicators removed but if you prefer them on, they are available from many triumph parts suppliers. This is a no excuses very original limited production Triumph classic that is ready to ride, enjoy or add to any English collection. I have 100% positive feedback on over 75 transactions. This motorcycle is not for sale anywhere else and will be sold to the highest bidder period! Please do not contact me and try to cut a special deal outside of EBAY. I wont do it. Thank you for looking and good luck to you, Doug
