I believe I am the third owner. I bought it through ebay in February 2006 from a police officer, and he kept this in nice shape. Here is what he wrote in the original listing from 2006: “1991 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat. 4 wheel drive with manual locking hubs. 5.0 liter engine 4 speed with overdrive manual transmission. Vehicle has 71,825 miles on it, but the engine was replaced by the Ford dealership approximately 6,000 miles ago. Clutch was replaced at the same time. Red/white exterior paint with red cloth interior. AM?FM stereo with cassette. Power windows power locks. Vehicle just passed PA inspection after putting on new front brake lines and hoses. All 4 tires have approximately 75-80% tread left. Rear sliding window. 8 foot bed with bedliner. Extra leaf spring added to rear springs to help haulheavy loads. Vehicle runs and drives excellent. Gibson Duel exhaust, however tail pipe on driver’s side rusted off in front of bumper. One spot of rust on left side of hood. (included picture of spot) One dent on passenger side of bed on the bottom in front. (Hardly noticeable). I tried to include a picture of dent, but wouldn’t show up on camera. I don’t really want to part with this truck, but just don’t need or use it anymore. Vehicle is ready to drive away. Buyer responsible for local pick up…” That was his description word for word, and I think he described it very accurately. That dent he mentioned… you really can’t even notice it if you are standing right in front of it. The story with the engine is that this owner bought this used from a car dealership, and when he bought it he opted to buy an extended warranty for it. Low and behold the engine blew on him, so he got a new engine out of the deal. Today, this truck has 93,470 miles on it. I put 21,645 miles on it over 4½ years. So the engine only has 27,000 or 28,000 miles on it. In 2007 I replaced the exhaust system with a single exhaust pipe and muffler. At that time it got new front brake pads, a right rear parking brake cable, a tensioner and serpentine belt, and a Deka 880 CCA 6 year battery. It also had a cooling system flush. In 2008 it got an idle air control valve, and 6 new shock absorbers (4 in the front, 2 in the rear). In 2009 it got a left front brake hose and wiper blades. It’s been my practice to have it detailed once per year. It shines up nice. This truck absolutely runs strong, shifts fine and goes down the highway smoothly, but it needs a few things. 1. Most importantly, it needs a new set of tires. If you were to buy this, I would recommend you take it straight to a tire shop. The front tires are too worn. One is showing traces of wire. 2. This truck needs a new windshield. Something hit it and it cracked. 3. There is a problem with the door locks. I open it by sticking my arm through the vent window, reaching in and pulling up on the door handle. 4. The driver’s side power window does not work. You can shove it down and push it up with your hands on the glass. The Pennsylvania inspection stickers for this expired in April 2010. It has been driven approximately 4960 miles since its last inspection. The air is weak. Radio works, I don’t know about the cassette player – I never used it. Four wheel drive works. I only used it once. I kept this parked during winter. It never went through snow while I owned it. I used it for pulling a 6 x 12 foot landscape trailer. It easily handled the load. I also drove this gently and reasonably (I’m 45. It’s not a sports car.) Besides the bedliner it also has diamond plated metal on the tailgate. This truck has 2 fuel tanks. It runs fine on regular unleaded. Never pinged. One time I filled up the front tank and discovered that it leaked. The previous owner never told me about that. I never got it fixed, so don’t add gas to the front tank. A tire shop broke off some screws that held the cap on to the left rear wheel. I have the cap and the replacement screws. The broken off screws need to be taken out of the wheel. This truck was last detailed in April. It really looks good after a good cleaning. The reason why I am selling it is I got out of the lawn business and no longer have a need for a truck. It just sits. I fire it up usually once a week and take it for a spin around the neighborhood, especially after it rains because the bedliner captures the rain and I don’t want mosquitoes breeding in that. In summary, this truck is a fine specimen for its age. The driver’s seat is just a little bit worn. There is a slight tear in the fabric, but the rest of the interior is in excellent condition. It’s clean and neat. The paint still shines up terrifically. That little bit of rust on the hood is still there. There is a trace of rust above the left rear tire. That’s it. This is a good-looking truck. I’ll be a bit sad to part with it, but I simply don’t need it. I prefer to deal with a buyer who can pick this up and pay me in cash. Additional info: Since I'm trying to provide full disclosure so that a potential buyer knows all the details, I want to add to info about that little dent (that's low and on the passenger side of the truck near the rear wheel). I didn't notice it yesterday, but there are some scratches around that dent. I pulled along the side of the truck with my car and noticed it. I think that was a piece of road debris that I hit. It might have been a piece of metal that flipped up and hit that spot. I had forgotten all about it. (It's not really obvious unless you are scanning the truck closely looking for imperfections.) If anyone wants to stop by and check this truck out closely before bidding, just let me know. It's a good, solid, clean truck with a very low mileage engine. It definitely needs tires though. ***********************************************************************************FEEDBACK ON THE TRUCK Saturday morning, October 2nd. A potential bidder stopped by to check out the truck. He was much more mechanically oriented than me. He looked it all over, including getting on his back to look underneath it. He said the rust he saw underneath was surface rust and that it appeared to him like the vehicle had been undercoated. He pointed out parts that can sometimes be a rust problem with trucks this old and said that these areas were in good shape. He also said a 2001 Ford truck he owned had severe rusting and he just thought it was surprising that a truck 10 years older than that one would be in so much better shape rust-wise. He liked that it had a hitch that is welded to the frame. (The most I towed was 2000 or so pounds with a 6 x 12 landscape trailer.) He thought the interior was great and he regretted throwing away a matching seat cover that would have fit this perfectly. Under the hood, he said the valve cover gasket was leaking some oil. And he believed the donut connecting the exhaust to the manifold needed to be tightened. At first he had trouble getting it to start. I told him to press the clutch to the floor. He still had trouble. So I got in the seat and started it right up. Perhaps because he had a severe toe injury he had trouble pressing the clutch down? (The clutch needs to go all the way down to start. It's been like this ever since I've owned it. This thing starts every time. You just need to press the clutch down all the way.) He took it for a spin around the neighborhood. He was satisfied with the test drive. He spent like an hour here and left saying that it was a good truck. It appears he is the type that needs to think about things. For me it was useful to hear comments about my truck from someone who really seemed to know what they were doing.
