Vehicle Detail

1976 Lincoln Mark IV Only 62,000 Original Miles 460 cu. - 4bbl V-8 Hello and welcome to my auction. Just a few words about myself. For a living I try to find cars from the 70's era. I do this because I grew up in that era and I remember when these old war horses were daily drivers and laced the streets of America. Ever since I could walk I was in the garaged helping my father with his antique cars. I say helping, but he would probably say different but always led me to believe I was really helping out. Cars to me are just a huge part of my life and as each generation grows older the next generation of cars are starting to be collected. I go to great lengths to rescue these cars. Some I restore, some I keep and some I pass along to you. This one I have mixed emotions. As you can see from the pictures I rescued this from an enclosed tent as this tank laid dormant for 15 years before I got to it. When I got to this car I came with a fresh battery, some gas and a tool box. I put the battery on and it cranked over but didn't start. One of the little critters had chewed the main feed wire to the ignition module. I hooked that up and dumped some gas in the carburetor and it fired right up. I mean fired right up. The previous owner and 3 of his buddies including myself couldn't believe how quiet the car was. I mean no smoke, no taps, no knocks. The mammouth 460 fired up as it was probably waiting to do so for 15 years. After the car warmed up I put it in reverse and the tranny engaged immediately and we backed it out into the day light. I can honestly say, that it was such a mysterious feeling seeing this car out in the sunlight after so many years with the 460 rumbling. Cars were really built back in the seventies and the bigger always meant better. I found the build sheet under the hood insulation, its brittle and in pieces but I have it. I only drove this car on the trailer and down the street. Brakes work very good and tranny seems tight. Motor is quiet. So if you're buying this car for a restoration its a very good start. As you can see from the pictures there are some rust issues. All the floors, trunk and frame are solid just the outside rust issues. Some rot around the vinyl top but all is there. Please study the pictures and let me know if you need more pictures to depict the condition of the car. I can't say enough about this 460. The power and torque will roast the tires in the rear. The interior is in excellent shape including the headliner and carpet. There is still the plastic wrap on the rear seatbelts. For little money on the outside restoration this car could be larger then life again. This will be the last time I will relist it. Best offer takes it! Thank you for looking! I don't want to say I'm on a mission to save these cars from scrap yards but these cars are truly dear to me. When I was growing up these cars were everyday vehicles. Everyone took them for granted and didn't appreciate them. When I was in high school I drove these cars.....not Trans Ams for Mustangs. On a Saturday night however, I was always the one driving because 7 or 8 of us could always pile in my car comfortably!!!! Please keep these cars on the road and enter them into local car shows. They are truly amazing vehicles. Spread the word to your kids, your grand kids or neices and nephews. These cars are truly what american luxury and muscle cars were back then. Although this massive 460 was big and powerfull it could easily obtain 18 mpg! I bought this car to restore and its like when I sit down at the dinner table and put a load of food on it and only it a portion of it. My eyes are bigger then my stomach or in this case bigger then my heart. I'm getting married(again) in 3 weeks and won't have the time or the attention to pay to this resting war horse. NO RESERVE!!! HIGH BID GETS IT, if its $50 bucks or $500 or even $5000 it goes. The first set of pictures are from the day I bought and then they continue to where it currently sits. Payment: 25% non refundable deposit via paypal immediately upon auction end and balance due in cash or certified funds within 7 days of end of auction. I can store the car till eternity for free until you're ready to pick this up, but has to be paid for in 7 days. Thanks and please ask as many questions as you want. I'm here to help. Here is when I got the car. Here is the car in its current state.
