Vehicle Detail
1956 Chevy Bel Air 2 Door Sedan -- 235 6 cylinder -- 3 speed on the column This car was built right here in Atlanta in October 1955-- found it's way to N. Carolina to Tennessee and back to Atlanta. I believe this car is a numbers matching original, however, never took the time to document that statement. The car was restored- frame off- to the best of my ability through 5 years of hard work and plenty of money. This car ran so good, and was so completely original, that I just couldn't bring myself to do anything else than keep it the way it left the factory-- right down to the radio delete plate. OK-- I did lose my head and added the chrome valve cover, gravel guards, and rocker moldings. This car was rebuilt to drive and enjoy-- it is not a trailer queen or a flawless example of 50's technology on a turntable. What it IS -- the best looking 56 Chevy driver in town-- one you can drive to California if you want to, on a reasonable amount of fuel and no breakdowns. The odometer was showing 93400 when the speedo was calibrated, rebuilt and set back to 0. The 491 miles that now shows on the car is the total I have driven it in an entire year since it's completion. This car runs, rides, drives, handles, looks and SMELLS new. Nearly every bolt was turned, and no expense spared in restoring this car. I am listing everything that has been replaced new (all Danchuk), and will list the very short amount of items the car is lacking. After that, let the pictures do the talking. Last thing--- Georgia is a non title state for cars built in the 50's. I do have a clean, clear Tennessee title, and a Georgia registration for the car. A bill of sale and the Tennessee title will be furnished at sale. The car will be available for inspection prior to bidding by appointment only-- feel free to contact me with all questions. A $1000 deposit via paypal required within 24 hours of auction end, or contact me directly for other arrangements. The remainder of payment will be expected in cash at pickup of vehicle. Checks will need to clear my bank before the car leaves my possession. The reserve will be set VERY, VERY low, not even close to what I have in the car, so bid with confidence-- need the room in my garage for the next project. Thanks for looking. What's New-- Brakes-- lines front to rear - wheel cylinders, shoes, drums turned, hoses, clips, retainers-- master cylinder- emergency brake cables front to rear Suspension-- Ball joints all-- tie rods, sleeves, steering links, idler arm with poor man power steering (drives slick with 2 fingers on the wheel), control arm bushings, spring bushings and shackles rear, all shocks to factory original-- all new bolts for all suspension, new front roller bearing hubs, seals, dust caps Drive Train-- The engine runs excellent. According to the owner that I purchased this car from, he had the motor rebuilt complete, and about 30,000 miles on it when I bought the car. I have no reason to doubt this, but to be honest, have no way to document it. All I know is, it doesn't burn oil, and runs like a clock. New items-- clutch complete with throwout bearing and pressure plate, u-joints, front and rear seals, factory correct cap, rotor, ignition wires, plugs, motor mounts, carb rebuilt, new starter with solenoid, generator, voltage regulator Electrical-- All wiring front to back including fuse block, under dash, all bulbs including dash, all Lamp assemblies ( front turn lamps, headlamp assemblies were new old stock from an old Chevy dealership), complete tailight assemblies from Danchuk-- new license lamps, new battery with cables complete, new headlamp switch, dome light, door switches, horn relay Cooling-- radiator, thermostat, all hoses and clamps, heater has been completely rebuilt with new heater core and new temperature control, heater control switch in dash rebuilt with new knobs Fuel-- new tank- sending unit complete Rubber-- ALL weatherstrips, grommets, pads, plugs, front to back including glass, trunk and firewall insulation, new felts, fuzzies and stoppers, trunk mat, rear seat back board, pedal pads Glass-- all new, except rear glass is original Interior-- Complete new from Danchuk including seat foam front, all covers, visors, door panels, kick panels, pull straps, headliner, carpet, glove box liner w/light, owners manual, mats (I added seat belts front), mirror post, visor posts, door handles and pulls, all cranks, horn ring, complete interior chrome screw set. Body-- This car had 50 years of road rash and very minor rust issues. The floors in the driver and passenger area were not rusted through, but were weak. These panels were replaced with Danchuk replacements, mig-welded solid, and finished top and bottom. No seams show anywhere, and appear factory. The rear of the trunk floor area was also replaced. This was done using Danchuk's rear trunk section and finished off professionally. New-- Quarter panel stainless, 2 pieces of front fender stainless, grille, grille eyebrows, grille base molding, headlamp doors, hood chrome, all emblems, bumpers, bumper brackets, all bumper bolts. New door handles, door lock set (keyed to ignition and trunk) wiper arms and blades. Tires-- 5 new B.F. Goodrich 6.70 X 15 Silvertown white walls as per factory Exhaust-- new complete to factory correct Paint-- Stripped to metal-- Epoxy primed-- all body work performed-- primed with 2K primers-- double block sanded-- reprimed 2K--wetsanded-- 4 coats basecoat--6 coats clear-- wetsanded- buffed -- waxed. Underneath of the body-- stripped- epoxy primed- 3 coats of straight urethane to match. Misc-- New body bolt package front to back, all original stainless including wheel covers polished and black accents restored to original. Nice car cover goes with the deal. What it needs-- The wiper motor is original, has not been rebuilt, and will bearly move the wipers.(Vacuum) I have not worried about this because I NEVER take this car in the rain. I never even drive it when I THINK it might rain, so the wipers haven't been priority with me. Hey-- my wife thinks I'm anal, but you know what I'm talking about. Also- there are a few small tears in the back and side of the passenger side front seat base upholstery. (see pictures) Didn't like the replacement material from Danchuk as well as the original, so I left it. Rear armrests have not been recovered or installed (again the material), however I have them and the material to recover going to the highest bidder. The high note horn does not blow (the low note works fine), but I feel like it probably will with some work or adjustment. And of course-- the clock doesn't work. Not a big deal with me, but a new electronic look alike can be had for it online. That's it-- Good luck From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy From Chevy
