Vehicle Detail

This is a hard to find Tin Top in great shape. Original paint, seats and carpet. This Samurai has lived in the foothills of the Southern California mountains it's whole life. It is rust free and the body is in good shape. It was used locally on the second owner's property and so it was not registered since 2002. It has not been abused or seriously offroaded. I was born and raised just a few miles from the owner's property and I have a lot of my family still living there. They notified me when the saw it for sale because they know I am always looking for clean Samurais. I called the owner who is a sheriff with the Barstow Sheriff's Dept. and he told me all the history of the Samurai. He bought it from the original owner in 1996 who was a friend of his who lived right down the street. He said that the only issue with the Samurai was that his German Sheperd puppy had gotten into the car while parked there at his property and chewed up the rear seat and tore the driver's door panel. I have the rear seat and it goes with the Sami, it is fixable. I repaired the door panel the best I could, but it is not perfect. The front buckets have brand new Mossy Oak covers on them with storage pockets around the sides and on the rear. They cover stock upolstery that is in fair condition but the vinyle on the sides is cracked and pealing so they would need recovering. I also have the rear seatbelts. It has just been professionally tuned up and the carb has just been rebuilt and this Samurai runs better than any I have ever had (and believe me I have had a lot over the years - see my feedback). It starts right up and runs great. Good acceleration and cruises at 65 mph. I have never had a Samurai with the oversized tires like this one because I though I wouldn't like the ride but it rides BETTER than a smaller stock tire. The tires really absorb a lot of the bumps on the road and it rides very smooth. It has not been lifted or modified. It does not seem to burn any oil and does not smoke or leak. The mileage is original at 126k miles. All 4WD components work as they should. All windows roll up and doors lock as they should. The drivers inside doorhandle broke years ago and the original owners friend made him one out of some aluminum stock he had and it works well and will never break as these so often do. Replacements are available from dealers if you want to just put it back to stock. It has a radio and cassette player that powers on but no sound. I haven't checked if the speakers are hooked up or not. Original clock keeps perfect time. Fuel gauge does not work but all other gauges work. I have been using the tripometer to monitor fuel and I just fuel up at 250 miles regardless so I haven't bothered replacing the sending unit yet. The following parts are new: all new brakes front and rear including both rear brake cylinders and both front rotors. Stops great. Fuel filter, plugs, plug wires, air filter, fresh oil and filter change. Mechanically it needs nothing. Does not overheat or leak any fluids. I have been using it as a daily driver for the past 4 weeks and driving it in 105 degree plus Arizona heat with no problems. Tires have about 80-90% treadlife left on them. They have been on the Sami for several years, but very few miles on them. No serious dry rot or issues like that. The wheels are stock wheels but he did paint them black and some of the black is chipping away so you can see some of the original white paint underneath. I would just powder coat them if you want to keep them black so you wouldn't have to worry about the paint flaking off. The front bumper has been on the Sami since it was new and it is a nice solid Smittybuilt tube bumper. It has kept the original grill and front fenders in great condition. Because the original front bumpers are so flimsy the front fenders and grill are often pretty beat up on these Samurais. The front turn signals are the originals mounted under the bumper and the tube bumper is a bolt on item, so if you were looking to go back to stock it would be an easy switch. That's about all I can think of to tell you about the truck. Like I said before, I have had many of these Samurai's over the years and enjoy working on them. This is a very solid daily driver quality tin top that would also make a great hunting rig. Consistently getting over 30 mpg on the three tankfuls I have run through it. Bid with confidence as I have never had a disappointed buyer and I have sold many of these Samurais over the years. I will be selling it locally for $3200 obo so I do reserve the right to end the auction at any time if it sells locally. On Sep-23-10 at 08:28:35 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been getting a lot of people asking me what I would take to end the auction. I decided to just add a buy it now price on the Sami for those interested. Good luck!
