1984 volvo 242 gl 5 speed. i am i beleive the third owner of this car. i have owned it for the last year and a half, but unfortunately have not been able to drive it at all aside from the trip from PA to NY. it is quite a rare volvo,and difficult to come by. i had been looking for a 242 for nearly a year and a half before i stumbled upon this one. it is in really nice shape considering the age. the previous owner had taken care of the most typical rust area with a patch panel, and a year and a half late that still looks pretty nice. the only rust spot that has shown up is a bit of bubbling along the front edge of the hood. the previous owner had converted the car to a later (1987?) 5speed transmission from the stock 4 speed. A really nice addition, but unfortunately when you make that conversion you lose the ability to use the 1984 cable driven speedo. he had attached an aftermarket speedometer, but that didn't work all too well, so that is deffinitely something to have looked at. also, since sitting for the past year and a half the car does not want to start. it will turn over, but not start. i suspect bad gas despite the fact that it was stored with stabilizer, or something to do with the notorious early volvo ignition system or dirty fuel injectors. the interior is quite nice. worn, but in an old baseball mitt sort of a way. i do have a replacement cover for the driver seat, but never got to putting it on, that will be in the trunk. the manual sunroof is awesome! smooth and quite easy to crank. it adds a bit of peace of mind to anyone who has had an electric sunroof fail in the open state just as it is starting to rain. it has quite a decent cd player and speakers installed. not current state of the art, but they do sound good. the car also has a remote alarm system. personally i found it just annoying while working on the car, but then again where i live i deffinitely don't need an alarm system. i am leaving the transportation up to the buyer. i am willing to help when transport does arrive. if you are coming in person to pick up the car i will give you the title when the car goes onto your dolly or trailer. if the car is going on a car hauler and you will not be present it will need to go with the car. a deposit of $500 is due within 7 days of the close of the auction in the form of a cashiers check. the remainder is due 7 days after that. transportation/pickup should be scheduled as soon as possible with the car being gone within 21 days of the close of auction. contact information: please use the ebay ask a seller option for any questions. i will try to be prompt and answer them as well as i can.
