Vehicle Detail

Here we have a classic 1971 Ford Mustang Convertible project car. I acquired it a few months ago from an older gentleman in a nearby town who had it stored in his garage. Based on the state safety inspection on the windshield, the car hasn't been on the road since 1983! Looks as though it was driven into the garage and was forgotten about, until now. The car is complete but does need restoration. The engine is a 302 with a 2 barrel carb and an automatic transmission. The odometer looks to have 105, 509 miles. This car runs, drives and stops, but I would not consider it to be road worthy just yet! I drive it around my parking lot and could be easily loaded onto a trailer or flatbed. The ignition key seems to be faulty because the car only starts when I jump the terminals on the starter solenoid under the hood, but the key will shut the car off. Bad solenoid??? The engine sounds like it could use a tune-up...idles a bit rough but smooths out as you rev it. The trans goes into forward and reverse as it should. The intermediate and rear brake lines have recently been replaced. The gas tank has been by-passed due to it needing to be replaced or cleaned. So for now, I have a temporary gas bottle under the hood to keep the car running. The car is also factory equipped with power steering. The body needs rust repair. The floors and also portions of the front torque boxes are rusty. The floor support braces appear to be solid for the most part. There is some rust where the steering box mounts and would need to be repaired. The rear frame rails are solid, but do have some scaley pitted surface rust. The lower quarter panels behind the rear tires are rusted out, as shown in the pictures. The trunk floor and extensions should be replaced in my opinion. Trunk lid, tail light panel and hood would require repair, if not replacement. The interior is complete and in decent condition. The seats are still soft and pliable, with no tears. The carpet is a bit worn on the front driver's side. The dash cluster area is decent. Car has a center console and a clock, but it does not work. The factory AM radio still works...as does the interior glove box light! The blinkers, tail lights, parking lights, and windshield wipers also work. The car is equipped with a working factory power top with a rear glass window, however the fabric is ripped and would need to be replaced. The interior is black in color. I have a clear transferrable New Jersey title in my name. A deposit of $100 is required within 24 hours of the auction's end. The remaining amount can be paid in cash upon pick-up of the vehicle. Thanks!
