Vehicle Detail
This auction is for my 1989 Dodge Omni. I bought the car earlier this year to mainly use for driving back and forth to work and to keep the miles down on my other vehicle. I put the following new parts on the car. Map sensor, coil, idle air control motor, plugs, wires , cap , rotor , distributor pickup, air filter, fuel filter at the tank. The car also has a new oil change. There’s less than 40 miles on the oil. The car ran excellent until it broke down on me a about a month ago. I thought it was electrical and untaped and unwrapped a big part of the wiring harness under the hood. I was checking wires to make sure they were properly attached and getting the correct voltage and etc. I have not completely re-covered all the wires. Also I added a clear fuel filter under the hood to make sure the gas was good and clean coming from the tank. I would change the filter out for regular gas line if I was keeping the car. It turns out that the new rotor button I had put on was defective. It was not firmly seating in the distributor. I replaced the button with another new one and the car fired right up. However it would not idle properly. Turned out the new idle air control motor was defective. It was still under warranty so I replaced it and the car idled a lot better. Still not perfect. I sprayed sea foam directly in the throttle body while it was running and that helped the idle a lot. I bet the car would idle smooth as silk if the throttle body was taken apart and cleaned thoroughly. The car is having an acceleration problem. It will bog down on you when you try to give it gas. It does it at all speeds and for the most part it does it full time. I am thinking it is the throttle position sensor. It may be something else. It is getting constant and correct fuel pressure to the throttle body. Please watch the video. It will show you the cars imperfections. Please feel free to ask any questions, and if you want to come look at it before bidding just ask and we will set something up. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere if the above mentioned problem was taken care of. I was going to try and fix the problem and keep it but I came across a good deal on another vehicle that is better suited to me. I am a 5 speed and a truck person. This omni is a car and an automatic. I always felt a little out of place in it. The car is located in Radford, VA 24141. I expect cash on pickup or paypal before hand. I recommend bringing a trailer. I have the title, its clear, and in my name. I have receipts for all the new parts I mentioned above, I also have a Haynes repair manual that goes with the car. The locks function just fine. The windows function but can be hard to roll up down. The car has power brakes, power steering, No problems out of either of those. No cruise control. Update 9-2. New video of the underside. Its dark in some spots. I tried 3 different times but its just so low to the ground theres not alot of light under there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaUQrV1ifsQ
