This auction has NO RESERVE so this car is going to sell, bid away. I have owned many of these and bought this one to keep in our personal collection. I have been restoring this van over the past year and the only reason I am selling this particular van is that I have come across a Syncro Westfalia and I have no reason to keep both. I have invested a lot of money into this van over the past year and I had planned on keeping it in the family to become our next “latest and greatest camper” but I have to part with her now start on my new project. With that being said the van has been in the garage for the past year while I have been bringing her back into shape. Exterior: I just had the van and the pop top painted with a fresh coat of “Alpine White” paint and it shows very well. This is not a show car so there are imperfections but it looks really nice. Before the body was painted I had everything sanded down and all surface rust removed and treated. I also put new 3m seam sealer in the seams to keep the water out. The underneath is what you would expect from an original car from 1989. The van has factory tinted windows. Really a nice option for a camper since it keeps all the unwanted sunlight out. Interior: Interior is in great shape. The cabinets are flawless. The cushions do show some light wear but with a little cleaning would look much better if not perfect, The dash has no cracks and really has no issues at all. The carpets are all in good shape and for its age show very well. The curtains through out the van look like they were never used, as they show no fading, stains or tearing. I have not played with all of the accessories but I did check the stove and it does work on propane. The fridge does work off electric but I have not tried it on propane. The van has 105k original miles. The van does run and drive well.I was planning to pull the motor and swap it for a tdi eventually but I had not reached that step yet when we discovered the syncro. It did have the head gasket seals replaced recently.There has not been any leaking coolant from the van at all. In the past 12 months (under 50 miles) I have done the following upgrades/replacements. -New belts -New Fuel lines all the way to the tank -New Fuel Filter -New air filter -New oxygen sensor -New Oil filter and oil change -New Distributor cap -Complete new exhaust setup ($800) -New wheel bearings on all four wheels -New Hankook Tires and all lugs replaced with factory vw lugs -Front brakes all new, including powdercoated calipers, new rotors, stainless steel brake lines -Rear Brakes all new, all hardware, wheel cylinders, drums, shoes, adjusting stars -New Bilstein HD shocks all the way around -New Kenwood Stereo with ipod hookup -New Kicker speakers in all four of the stock locations. Stereo really sounds nice. -New Skylight Window -New battery -New pop top seals Keep in mind that this is a 21 year old historic car. I have tried my best to disclose the condition of the car to the best of my knowledge. With that being said the van is sold as is where is, so bid accordingly.
