Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a 1949 Chevy half ton truck. REMEMBER THIS IS A 3 DAY AUCTION ONLY!!! This truck has been sitting ever since its owner passed away 20 years ago. I bought it from his widow, says she has kept it long enough and would now like to see someone fix it up to its formal glory. In its day this truck was really something. They drove it right up to the front door of a 5 star resort for dinner numerous times. The years have taken its toll on it but it is VERY much worth bringing back. The engine has been changed out to a 235 or a 265, not sure which, and he added a 4 speed trans at that time. It is also 12 volt with the original 6 volt starter still on it in order to really crank fast. The engine will run if you pour gas in the carb so if the carb and fuel pump was cleaned or replaced it would probably run good. The radiator is full after all these years and there is plenty of antifreeze in it so freezing up wasnt a problem. The rearend and driveshaft have been up graded to the open style. The rear looks to be out of a Pontiac of some type possibly, not sure. It has the original springs still on it is why the rear wheel isnt sitting in the center of the wheel well. The center bolt was different from the original is the reason for this and he was running it this way so its not a problem. The rear tires are pretty good size but do not rub. The brakes need gone through, I backed them off so I could roll it around when necessary. Rear tires arent much but the front ones are about new. The wheels are the ones he was running on it, I just sanded them a little and put some silver metallic paint on them. The bed floor is completely rotted away from sitting. The cross members seem pretty decent and the bed strips that go between the boards possibly could be used for a driver truck if blasted and painted. The bed sides have some rust in front and behind the fender but not real bad. The rear fenders look great except for a little rust down low on them. I feel he replaced them at sometime. Hood is good, front fenders have a little rust but not major. They have some heavy surface rust near where they bolt on. The cab needs floors where your feet go but I think the section under the seat is ok. The cab corners have been repaired long ago and there still looking pretty good, remember, all this was done over 20 years ago! The windshields are getting a little frosty around the edges, the door glasses are good I think but one vent glass is cracked. The drivers door is decent, has a little rust through at bottom on the inside but not really major. The rocker panels have some rust thru but are repairable. The pass side door jamb on the front part of the cab is rusted thru, tried to get a pic of it, but the door shuts good so its not a structural problem. The pass side door is good on the outside but the inside is pretty much gone so it will need major work or replaced. Tailgate isnt much, grille is nice and straight but chrome is peeling. Front bumper is good but theres a hitch on the rear instead of a bumper. The interior at one time was pretty nice but time has taken its toll on it. The seats are out of a chrysler product, they are fair for a driver. The headliner is there but starting to come down, not torn up but showing age. Door panels need attention but are driver quality. Im sure theres things that I left out so email me with your questions. Remember, this is a 1949 truck that has been sitting for 20 years. This would make a great truck to restore or hot rod. The pics I have on here are current, the date is wrong on my camera, and were taken after all I did was wash it, no wax just wash, . What is there looks pretty good!! Thanks for reading my novel and good luck should you decide to bid. A $350.00 deposit is required at auctions end and balance due in full within 3 days. O feedback or negative feedback bidders must contact me before bidding or I will cancel your bid. Thanks
