Vehicle Detail

1966 Dodge Cornet 500, 2 Door Hardtop NO RESERVE I bought this car from a dealership in Arizona called UP4Auction back in 2003 for $7999.00.. Their ad said 440 cu.in. 365Hp engine (it came from the factory with a 383 and still has 383 emblems on the front fenders)but according to the block number it is a 440 out of a 1985 truck and I don't know the horsepower. One of the lobes on the cam was worn causing it to emit a lot of raw gas so I replaced cam (a little wilder than stock but not noticeably ) lifters pushrods and timing chain They said it was a rust free Arizona car but the cars CERTICARD shows it was originally sold in Bristol, Virginia. It had been repainted white ( the factory color was maroon) at some point but whoever did it did not use seamsealer and all the seams on the hood, trunk. doors, ect. had rusted through the paint and the only way to clean the rust out was by sandblasting. The passenger side floor had been patched and I had to patch the driver side. The transmission crossmember still needs to be reinforced or replaced. It did and still does have a very nice interior although the carpets door panels and dash have been dyed or painted black (originally maroon). I think the seats have been reupholstered with black leather. I spent 3 years with the car disassembled repairing and repainting the car(Looks decent from a few feet away but is not professional job). During that time I was diagnosed with an illness similiar to MS which slowly has reduced my weight and strenght. The car is an old muscle car with manual steering and brakes (power streering and brakes took away horsepower) and I no longer can enjoy driving the car. I bought parts to convert it to power steering but I can't do the work to install them. I will include the parts with the car I have spent countless hours working on the car and a lot of money on ebay buying parts that were in better condition than what was on it. What I have now is a nice driver quality car that can be enjoyed as is or is a excellent base car for the car of your dreams. It has a straight body without a lot of Bondo( it can be repainted to the color you want without a lot of additional work), a nice interior and a good base engine which can be driven as is or modified to your specs. It has a new edelbrock carburator and engine dress up parts. It has custom painted rims with brand new low profile tires or I have the original Magnum rims with red line wide oval tires, the set of your choice comes with the car and the other set can be purchased for $500.00 extra. It has Jacpak rear shocks with a vacuum pump that you can raise and lower the rear end and new mufflers with a good sound to them. This is the best value1966 Dodge Cornet on ebay at the time of listing. Anything a little better will cost you $10,000.00 more, anything cheaper will cost you $5,000.00 minimum in work to bring it up to what this car is. I am on disability and I used the car as collateral to pay off some high interest credit cards. The beginning bid price is what I need to get the title released and is less than I paid for it. The car is being sold as is and where is. Car should be looked at before bidding. I can assist with loading if transportation is necessary.
