Vehicle Detail
Here for auction is a 1974 Dodge Challenger for your consideration. I really never thought I would part with this car which I have owned for over 20 years, but I am at a point where I need to make some moves and I cant justify keeping the Challenger any longer. This car is an original 318, automatic, but has some nice additions that make it a unique vehicle. It has the RT hood, TA rear wing and side trim from the Rally models. The engine was rebuilt when I first "resifted" the car some years ago and it mostly stock except for the cam. Simple 2 bbl carb and electronic ignition made for a great driving, extremely reliable ride. It was driven daily and after several thousand miles the engine runs excellent, does not smoke, has no leaks and uses no oil at all between oil changes. After sitting for about 2 years, it starts right up. The engine paint has given up a while ago as seen in the picture. The transmission is the 904, and shifts well and firm, however it has had a slight leak, I think it is coming from the shifter linkage on the valve body where it protrudes through the transmission case. The rear axle is an 8 3/4 with 2.78 gears which work good with the 14 inch wheels. The body is in very good condition, and is nice and straight. No dents, no rot holes, just some bubbles and blisters, mostly on the front fenders and above the back light. The rear quarters have been repaired with lower patch panels. The trunk pans are solid and painted, and the rear underside of the car was cleaned, POR-15 applied and then sprayed with a urethane top coat. The gas tank was removed, cleaned and sealed with the POR-15 fuel tank kit. The torsion bar cross member is solid, and this car was factory undercoated which probably kept the underside so clean for this long. The floor pans seem to be in good shape, but I have not pulled up the carpets so I cannot guarantee that. Please note that this car is not completely rust free, but is in pretty good condition for a car that is 35 years old! All glass is intact, the windshield has a wiper scratch which can be seen in the photo. Most everything was repaired or replaced from front to back when I first restified the car. Front end parts were all replaced, KYB shocks, new rotors, drums, master cylinder, ect. Recently installed the Mopar mini starter. The heater, wipers, lights, all gauges and speedometer work as expected. There is a tach, vacuum guage and trans temp guage also. The interior has '80's vintage Challenger/ Omni cloth bucket seats which are way more comfortable than the original E body seats, which were worn out anyway. The carpet is new as well. The headliner needs to be replaced and has a few tears in it. The car is painted Plum Crazy purple and the paint is in great condition with only a few scuffs or scratches. Basically this car was a daily driver until about 6 years ago, and has been garage kept since I've owned it. Lately it has been enjoying somewhat of a retirement, and is not really driven anymore. As it may not be a show winner as it stands, it would make a great driver with just a little work. Or you may want to do a resto mod or race car project. Either way this would be a good car to start with since its not a complete rust bucket-basket case!! This is the last of the E bodies and they are not getting any easier to find. I am in no way desperate to sell it, but I have had many great years with this car, and the time has come for someone else to enjoy it now. This vehicle is being sold locally and this auction may end at any time due to local sale.I have tried to describe it's condition as best I can, and hopefully the pictures are adequate to get a good idea as to what it looks like. Please ask any questions you may have. I CANNOT deliver this vehicle and I would not recommend driving it for any distance due to the fact that it has been not been driven for about 2 years. Winning bidder shall arrange shipping and/or delivery method. This vehicle is being sold AS IS, without any warranty either implied or expressed. Winning bidder shall make a $250 deposit via PayPal within 2 days end of auction. The Balance due by either Cashiers Check or Cash. Please note that ANY check used must clear my bank before the vehicle will be released to the new owner. Sorry but there are way too many scammers around lately and I WILL NOT jeopardize having this car stolen by a fake check. If this is inconvenient then I suggest paying with cash. US BIDDERS ONLY !!! Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
