$1 START NO RESERVE AUCTION ON A 1974 BMW 2002 The Original Ultimate Driving Machine ... Wearing its Original Paint and Patina. Up for auction is a near bone stock, rust-free BMW 2002, completely untouched and original. Impossible to find in this condition. The 2002 presented here, VIN # 4228427, is still proudly wearing its original Malaga Burgundy factory paint. It has never been raced, misused or abused in any way. Well sorted, adult driven and well cared for. NEVER smoked in ever. The three owner car spent its whole life in just two western states. Colorado and Oregon. All numbers matching. Original engine. (Well-maintained by Motorsports International of Portland, OR) Runs very strong and drives beautifully. Absolutely no leaks, no issues. An absolute blast to drive in all venues. Effortlessly cruises highways at autobahn speeds without breaking a sweat. Handles winding country roads with aplomb. Best of all, this 2002 could, perhaps, be hailed as the best in-town driver ever produced. Darts in and out of traffic while turning heads along the way. Having owned a couple of seventies 911's, and an SL Mercedes among other German performance cars, I'd say this 2002 is right up there with any of them. Exhibits a level of drive-ability and handling that is rare to find in any car. Hard to believe it is a 36 years old classic. As near to being perfectly engineered as they come. May explain why the BMW 2002 remains the benchmark standard by which all modern sport sedans are measured. To this day, it seems every automobile manufacturer keeps wanting to reinvent it. This is one 2002 that you can drive and enjoy as long as you desire. It will never go out of style, nor will it ever drop in value. It is a car that's easy to live with and easy to maintain (parts availability is excellent). It's also thrifty, utmost pleasing to the eye, fun to drive, and people just plain love it. Can you think of any "other" car that has so many favorable attributes? Near stock original condition. Set up with a few select performance upgrades as follows: 1. Momo Alloy Wheels, Yokohama Avid T4 tires (approx 4000 miles) 2. Recaro SE Sport Seats, installed brand new about a year ago. 3. Weber 32/36 carburetor replaces the orig Solex. 4. Bilstein Shocks 5. Leather wrapped steering wheel & shift knob. 6. Upgraded Tii front disc brakes 7. H4 Halogen headlights Service History: Car will arrive with a sheaf of paperwork documenting a lot of service history. New clutch, new front disc / rear drum brakes. (Within last six months) Recently replaced alternator, battery, drive line, heater blower motor. Recently tuned, oil changes every 3000 / 3 months (Castrol ) Orig tool bag, original owner's manuals, two sets of factory BMW keys. Disclosures: Sporting pristine coachwork, the car is a guaranteed 36 year old, accident-free, dry survivor. Paint is in excellent shape. The hood and trunk, being most exposed to UV, exhibits some fading /crazing. The overall character, patina, along w/ the knowledge that nothing strange is happening beneath the finish, more than compensates for a new paint job. Chrome trim sparkles without pitting or fading. Will polish up even better. Virtually brand new Recaro SE sport seats (approx.1 year old) are included in the BUY IT NOW price. Otherwise, these $2500 MSRP seats will be available for an additional $1250 to the lucky winner. Original seats w/ sheepskins go with the vehicle. Good condition, w/ rugged vinyl, though they could stand a restuffing. Slight ding just above the rear window, barely noticeable. Single dash crack, easily fixable. All instruments, gauges work fine. The inside dome light may need to replacing or just a new bulb. Behr air-conditioning is the original factory installed unit, not a dealer add-on. It is complete, works fine, could use a recharge. Hood, trunk, doors operate and lock with ease. Glove box is mint. New shift boot. Original jack fitted in trunk. There are four speakers, two in the rear deck and two in the panel below the rear seat. The box you see underneath the driver's seat contains a power amplifier w/ graphic equalizer. Does not affect seat or positioning. Completely hidden, except from side view, seat pulled back. I looked at a number of 2002's before discovering this one ten years ago. Back then, the hardest to find was a car w/ original paint, rust-free, sporting an original, numbers matching engine and interior. Anyone in the market today knows how much more elusive this has become. Check my feedback and bid w/ confidence. Thanks for your time and interest.
