Vehicle Detail

1979 International Harvester Scout II VIN: J0062JGD47172 Up for grabs is a 1979 International Harvester Scout II in original and unmolested condition that came from the dry climate in New Mexico. This Scout has 87,560 original miles, is nearly rust-free, and features its original “rally” wheels and interior. The Scout has a 345 V-8 and automatic transmission along with the upgraded russet/plaid interior. This Scout is in outstanding mechanical condition as the engine has been removed and underwent a full rebuild. The transmission has also been fully rebuilt. The transfer case/four wheel drive system has been tested and is in excellent working condition. This is easily one of the best Scouts on EBay this year (I track Scouts regularly) and also one of the cleanest in the country. The vehicle has NOT been lifted or cut (thankfully!). Over the past 18 months, I have spent nearly $25,000 on restoring this Scout. I have had the top off only during the painting of the vehicle. The Scout features: · Brand new Tahitian Red paint (stock IH color, matched to original) throughout, including door jambs and inside of doors, tail gate, etc. All rust was eradicated from the body-paint alone was over $2,500 · Original, numbers matching motor rebuilt less than 1,000 miles ago · Original transmission rebuilt less than 500 miles ago · Brand new russet carpet set (includes tailgate and other interior pieces not installed) · Five (5) matching new BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires with less than 1,000 miles (spare has never been used) · Brand new Edelbrock 650 carburetor (electric choke) with less than 1,000 miles · Brand new Duralast Gold premium battery · Brand new replacement gas tank, sending unit, fuel filler hose · Brand new horns (high and low) · Replaced alternator · Replaced radiator · Installed new rear brake shoes · Replaced locks and ignition key, 3 matching keys included · Replaced the rear wheel cylinders · Fresh tune-up (post rebuild), plugs and wires · Oil change (post rebuild) · New dash sockets and bulbs · New wiring · Replaced fuel pump · New heater motor · New oil sending unit · New battery tray · New wiper blades · All new weather stripping around the doors and rear hatch, new window seals · New antenna (radio functions, but I had the speakers removed) · All new stripes, emblems, and decals (rear “Scout II” decal was applied incorrectly, it is missing the “II”) · New side view mirrors · New side marker lens and housings on all four corners · Copy of the build sheet included in the documentation · Original owner’s manual and booklet included I have the clean Tennessee title in my possession; this Scout passed the strict Davidson County (Nashville) emissions test easily. I am the third owner of this vehicle. Please keep in mind that this vehicle is over 30 years old. All of the mechanical work was performed by professionals (not me!). Because this is a premium vehicle, I ONLY used premium fuel. This vehicle has been driven weekly, it is my third vehicle. All electrical works; and the original radio even turns on. All of the gauges work except for the oil pressure and fuel gauge, but I am including another gauge that I have not had time to install. The A/C blows strong. The speedometer and odometer are functional, all lights work (including side markers). To be perfect, the cruise control needs to be reattached, the gauges need to be fixed, the dash could be replaced (slight crack in the middle), and the original knobs could be replaced. The Scout only needs minimal work to be fully restored, and I have tried to keep the vehicle as original as possible in terms of appearance. The body is freshly painted and only needs minor touch-up in a few areas to be perfect. I have kept extensive records of the work, every part purchased or service performed has been documented and is included in a binder with the vehicle. Also included in the sale is a straight, ding-free front bumper (it will need to be re-chromed to be perfect). No warranties given or implied; and no trades will be accepted. I am selling this vehicle to finance a Jeep project. Please feel free to contact me with any questions; please call me on 615-300-6004 (I will respond quickly to all calls and e-mails). Please keep in mind that I am more of a collector than a mechanic, so I will try to answer any technical questions. Please ask all questions BEFORE the end of the auction. I can assist buyer with any shipping and/or pick-up arrangements. I would not hesitate to drive this Scout anywhere in the country; it is in great mechanical condition. Vehicle is available to be seen and driven by appointment only; I reserve the right to end the auction early (I am open to appropriate offers to end the auction early). This is definitely NOT a fire sale, low-ball bidders and/or people with irrelevant questions will be ignored. The vehicle is currently located in Nashville, TN; delivery is possible for an additional fee, I am willing to work with the shipper of your choice OR I can meet you at the Nashville airport. I also have a friend who can provide trailer or covered transport at your expense at a reduced rate, please contact me if you are interested. Additional photos can be sent directly to you upon request; I will NOT be posting any more photos on EBay. Please bid to win, the reserve on this vehicle is set very low for a vehicle of this caliber. All non-paying bidders will be fully prosecuted under Tennessee laws and also by EBay. I require a $500 deposit within 24 hours of the end of the auction (via Pay-Pal), the remainder of the payment must be made within seven (7) days. Payment can be made in either cash or certified check ONLY, no exceptions. Remember, this is a private sale, and the title will not be released until all funds have been received. Thank you for looking!
