Vehicle Detail
This is my Grandfather's car. After 27 years, my 95 year old Grandpa is finally parting with his beloved 240D as he is no longer able to drive. It was purchased for him by my Dad in 1983. My Grandfather actually had two of these cars, the other one (an '81 which was his day to day car) has already been sold last year. This one was harder for him to part with as it is a low mileage classic in great condition. Notable details on the car are the Wood trim, dash, instruments and gauges. The engine is in great shape, as is the trunk, door jams and fender wells. It has a tan leather interior with a cream exterior. The interior is in vert good condition. There are no rips, tears or stains in any of the seats door panels or carpet. Actually the only notable interior defect is a dash molding piece needs to be put back in place. The exterior has original cream paint that is in very good condition for being 30 years old. 1983 was the last year of production for this wonderful series of cars. Being the last year, it incorporates all the refinements of the series. Roll down windows, power sunroof, dual rear view mirrors, cruise control. Original am/fm Becker stereo radio- cassette, etc... Chrome, trim, wheels covers are all in great condition. It runs and handles very well. It has always been serviced by the same Mercedes trained mechanic who has had many years of Benz diesel experience. All necessary maintenance and services have been done, the air conditioning and clock do not appear to be working, the mechanic says it's the compressor, the clock does not appear to be working and the MBZ emblem is missing from the front but these things do not affect the performance of the car itself. Fixing or forgoing these repairs will be left to the new owner. This fabulous Benz is good to go, for the next 25 years or 500K miles, whichever comes first. It's EPA gas mileage is 30 MPG around town, and 34MPG on the highway. My Grandpa has reported that on long drives he got close to 40 MPG! All this with a car that doesn't want to depreciate in value, and turns heads with its classic look and design. Seats 5 adults in comfort, it has an extra large trunk that can hold a family size luggage load, and a rugged steel body and frame. A great investment in a classic and a great economical form of transportation. 65,049 original actual miles. The opening bid is a very low $3700.00 which buys you a tractor of a car that will get you where you need to go for years and years...
