Vehicle Detail

Up for bid is my 1983 Continental Mark VI Signature Series. It has been a reliable daily driver for several years, but I just got a truck and I can't keep both vehicles. The Lincoln has all the luxury features like a digital dash, power everything, rear defroster, outside thermometer, cruise control, delay wipers, keyless entry (code will be provided to new owner), and alloy wire wheels (they are alloys, NOT hub caps). The buttons on the dash let you monitor things like fuel economy and range. It consistently gets 20-24mpg on the highway and I've been averaging about 17mpg combined city/highway. Not bad for an '80s land yacht. All the gadgets and things function except for the air conditioning, which is intact and servicable but probably just has a leak somewhere. The engine has CFI electronic fuel injection and the transmission is a 4-spd overdrive automatic. I have added a CD player that works through the factory amp. The original cassette deck goes with the car if desired, but it needs a new drive belt to play tapes again. I also installed a custom welded 2.5" X-pipe dual exhaust system from the manifolds back with turbo mufflers and resonators. Has a classic V8 sound that is quiet on the highway and isn't too loud around town. The car is over 25 years old so most states don't require a smog check (you might want to make sure before bidding). The front brakes (calipers, rotors, pads, and hoses) were replaced about 5,000 miles ago. Rear tires are about 3,000 miles old, fronts are less than 500 miles old. Basically new Firestones all around. I change the lube oil every 3,000 miles or sooner if the oil looks dirty, and have replaced tune-up parts like plugs, wires, cap, and rotor recently. Transmission fluid and filter were changed about 7- or 8,000 miles ago, and the coolant was changed last fall. Newer radiator hoses and thermostat as well. Aside from the a/c not working, ugly stuff includes paint that's getting old and starting to flake off, especially on the hood. Rear bumper is rusty, and there are some dents and scrapes here and there from the previous owner, an elderly gentleman who bought the car new. The exhaust blows a little blue smoke sometimes during startup, my guess is the umbrella valve seals are worn out (easy fix). It uses a normal amount of oil for a car with 100k. The transmission can be a little finicky if it's really hot outside or really cold, but it has never let me down. This is a very comfortable car that still has a lot of life left. I've taken it on many trouble-free road trips. It's big but it gets good mileage, it's reliable, and it's solid. Original dealer paperwork and factory shop manuals go with the car. Most of the photos were taken before I did exhaust work or replaced tires, and the underbody shot was taken while I was building the exhaust. The car is located near the junction of I-74 and I-75 in Cincinnati, OH. I am available if you want to come test drive it before bidding, preferably weekday evenings but other times could work. Email me through ebay if you'd like to check it out. Thanks for bidding, hope the next owner enjoys it as much as I did.
