DESCRIPTION:

Our 2000 Nissan Maxima SE is a decent luxury vehicle that just needs some cosmetic TLC and some mechanical work to be 100%. This car will pass our stringent VA State Inspection and we will do that for a winning bidder from VA.

The car looks very nice inside with supportive black leather seating, nice gray carpeting, and a racy looking dash. The car is equipped with a BOSE AM/FM/Cassette/CD audio system, power everything including seats, heated seats (driver's is inoperable), climate control, power glass sunroof, cruise, tilt, and more! The seats look nice, the carpet is clean, the headliner is intact although a little dirty in spots, the dash looks nice, but there are scratches on some black plastic trim around the audio/climate controls, the leather on the steering wheel is torn, the center armrest cover is torn, and the shifter boot is torn, but otherwise the interior looks great. We do have an Owner's Manual for the car and we have two standard keys, but no remotes.

On the outside, the body is mostly straight with only a few shallow dings and there is no evidence of rust anywhere. The paint looks good, but there are numerous paint chips on the front end and a few tiny chips and scratches on most every other body panel. Some touch-up paint will do wonders for this car. The large alloy wheels look good with only minor brake dust etching and some tiny scratches. The tires are good and will pass inspection.

Mechanically, this Maxima runs decent and drives great. The ride is sporty, yet comfortable and the interior is very quiet with no rattles or road noise. The manual transmission shifts great and engages early in the pedal travel. The transmission was recently rebuilt, but does have some leaks around the pan. The Check Engine light was on so we pulled the codes and reset the light. It is off now, but will probably come back on. The car starts easily and runs decent, but acceleration is sluggish and there is a slight hesistation. The Check Engine codes are: #P0171 - (Fuel system lean in bank 1), #P1336 - (CKP Sensor), #P1706 - (P/N position switch circuit). We are not a Nissan dealer so we can't tell you what these codes mean or how much it will cost to fix these items so consult your local dealer for those answers. In addition to those items the following mechanical items need repair: the drive belt is cracked, the shifter shaft is leaking, the left rear door will not open, and the front struts are a little noisy. There are a few minor oil leaks too.

So, other than some easily repaired mechanical items and some minor cosmetic touch-ups, this nice driving Maxima will make a great daily commuter car!
