Vehicle Detail

Up for grabs is a very clean 1981 CB900 Custom, equipped with Vetter fairing, saddle bags, travel trunk, and lowers. I acquired this bike last year, it had been sitting in a heated garage for the past 10 years waiting for the owner to take it out and enjoy. A new family and the job were his reason for not riding, which is the way for most of us. The tank and carbs had been drained prior to storage, so bringing it back to life was merely a quick check and cleaning of the carbs and tank. I installed a new sealed battery, and the bike started almost immediately. After a brief run-in all the oils were dropped and refilled with Honda fluids. The charging system seemed weak, so after testing I discovered the alternator rotor was shorted out, and I replaced it with a rebuilt one. The charging system now operates as it should. A new rear tire was installed this spring, the front tire was checked and still has 75% tread left. All lights work as they should. The exhaust system is not standard, but is not loud and obnoxious either, it has a great throaty sound, like all of the muscle bikes back then did. The am-fm 8 track radio plays, but the display does not work. I was going to update it to a newer style radio with I-pod inputs, but the guys I ride with told me to leave the 8 track player in, it adds to keeping the bike original. The bads to the bike are few. It has a very small dent on the right hand side of the tank, barely noticeable, but I wanted to mention. The Vetter lowers that I bought and added are not made for the bike, I had to cut out the tops for the valve train to fit through the lowers, which looks pretty cool. From the outside the lowers fit perfectly. The fairing, travel trunk, and saddle bags are like new condition, and all keyed the same, so 1 key fits all the locks. The seat is the original Honda line seat, comfortable, with no rips. I don't know of a thing this bike needs, it is ready for the open road, or a ride after a long day at work to relieve the stress. I have enjoyed every minute I have ridden this bike, but the tuition to put two through college this fall is taking away my play money for the next 4 years, so someone else can enjoy this great bike. Full payment to my PayPal account required within 72 hours of the auction ending. If you cannot live with those terms, don't bid. I buy off ebay all of the time, and I pay immediately after I buy, which is the way it was intended to be. If you do not have positive feedback, don't bid. I will not end the auction early, don't ask. If you want to look at the bike before the auction ends, and live in the Fort Wayne, IN area, contact me through email and we can arrange a time. I would be happy to assist you or your shipper load this bike for shipping.
