Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is 1986 BMW 524td powered by an I-6 Turbo Diesel engine. This car was only brought into the states for one model year and is one of the only Diesels that BMW imported in the past. The car is white with chocolate brown leather interior, both the interior and the exterior are in phenomenal condition for the age of the car. There is no rust on the car (there are a couple tiny dents, took me a week to even notice them) there are no rips in leather, all the original floor mates are still there and all the power seats work great. Everything on the car is intact and original (except the radio which has been replaced with a very tasteful kenwood unit), including the engine. There are 204K miles on the OD. The original owners manual is in the car and shows the original owner's name and that he bought the car at BMW of Houston in 1986. There are stamped BMW service records for the first 12 years of the car's life. Everything about this vehicle says that it was very meticulously maintained. The car is NOT running, however during the last few weeks I was in Dallas I tinkered with it when I had time and discovered that the fuel pump is bad. I purchased a new one from autozone but the pump they have for this car is to big. Nonetheless I rigged the pump up anyway to a tank of diesel so that I could run fuel through the system to see how clogged it was, and to my great surprise the fuel system is totally clean. There also is not any mold/fungus in the fuel tank. That means that to run the car one would need to purge the air out of the both the high pressure and low pressure sides of the fuel system. To do that the car will need a new battery (the one in it will only crank it for about 2 seconds and to purge the high pressure side you'll need to crank it for at least 30 seconds at a time) and the right size fuel pump (NOT the airtex pump from autozone). I bought the car in order to get it running and flip it to make a few bucks, However I am a student in CA and have gone back to school so at this point I just need to get the cash out of it. Please give me a call/email if you are interested in the car. Thanks for looking! Karl 805.215.0919 karlboonzaayer@gmail.com
