I spent 13 years in the motorcycle industry managing very large dealerships so I've sold and ridden pretty much everything produced in the last 30 years. I’ve been riding for 26 years myself and have put well over 100K miles on my own vintage BMWs. I have also trained hundreds of motorcycle sales people in how to be motorcycle consultants and help people find the right bike for their needs as opposed to just taking their money. The Katana 600 is one of those bikes over the years that I have always recommended as a very nice first sport bike. The secret is that much of the motorcycle industry is a scam catering to young male testosterone. Most of the street bikes produced are so high tech and powerful that only the VERY best professional rider will be able to ride them to close their potential on a closed track. On the street even the better than average rider will never be able to get more than 30% of a bike’s potential out of it without risking his license, his life, and the lives of others. The moral is; why waste your money on something you can’t, don’t know how, and will never get the chance, to use? The Katana 600 is a wonderful sporting motorcycle that is inexpensive and can go faster and handle better than anyone will ever want to. BUT! it will also be a great commuter, go to the grocery store, and be very comfortable touring two up fully loaded. A comfortable saddle, good riding position, and a six speed transmission means more in the long run than having those 10 extra horsepower. End of lesson/rant. As you have already seen this is one super sweet Katana considering it is almost 10 years old! I remember riding the Katanas in the late 80's when they were first released and have even ridden some of the original unfared models. They are a very nice 600 and set apart from the Supersport classes. Because they are not cutting edge you don’t get involved in the rat race of everything changing year to year. What Suzuki created was a nicely competent sport bike in the European tradition that didn't require upgrading year to year and was also very practical to own because it was affordable, reliable, and very comfortable to spend the whole day on both rider and passenger. It was also a rare sport bike in that it had a center stand so was much easier to park. The Katana was made for riders who realize that being out there enjoying life on the road is more important than posing with something that it the cutting edge of performance technology. The sad thing about Katana 600s is that they are very hard to find in this kind of excellent stock condition. Because they were less expensive than the other 600s on the market and still looked very aggressive, many younger people bought them and then proceeded to bugger them up trying to turn them into something that they weren’t and sliding them down the road because they didn't know how to ride them. You can see from the pictures that this Katana is an exception because it is in excellent condition with only a D&D pipe deviating from stock. I could not find any scratches on the bodywork so it is safe to say that this 600 has never even been dropped from its side stand. That is a very rare thing to find 9 years down the road! Because it really hasn’t been ridden much it could use a front tire because the one on it is cupped from sitting for so long. That is understandable with such low mileage. Here are some close up shots of the bike so you can see just how nice it really is. Please notice that this Katana still has the stock rear fender and turn signals. It is so common these days to find these bikes with these parts removed in an attempt to make the bikes look cooler. Most people who want to look cooler don’t care that these pieces are needed to pass safety inspections and are there for a reason. We gave a prayer of thanks when we saw them there. Having them is a sure sign of a responsible, adult owner! Exactly who you want to buy a used bike from. We used to joke in the dealership that Suzuki created the most perfect B cup tail light ever seen. You could always watch customers walk by and fondle them in passing. This one is in excellent condition and not faded! I got to ride this one around my neighborhood a few miles. At most it needs the idle raised a hair but I wouldn’t hesitate to ride it anywhere were I able. I’ll show this beauty off and let it speak to you itself! Everything about this Katana screams quality, pure class and luxury, and longevity! It’s nice to see them in this kind of condition AND also in a NO RESERVE auction! Here’s your chance to own one and hit the road while the weather is right! The dash area is clean and everything works. In the spirit of being more practical this model has a fuel gauge which wasn’t always seen back then on a smaller bike. The grips, seat, and mirrors are all in almost perfect condition and not showing any wear and tear. You have to appreciate garage parking! This nine year old Katana has only 7900K miles on it. This is extremely low miles especially on an adult owned bike that hasn’t been abused. As it is, this comes out to ONLY about 800 miles per year! The original manuals are included! er> This is a very nice bike even taking into consideration it’s age and the very low mileage! Katanas like this normally get hard use from their owners because they are so nice to ride and it is very RARE to find one in this kind of condition! Under all that bright yellow bodywork is Suzuki’s very reliable and powerful 600cc dual overhead cam oil and air cooled four cylinder motor. While certainly not the most powerful engine in the industry it produces enough power that 99% of the riders out there don’t have the experience to make use of it (saying that will probably piss off a lot of people but it is the truth!). It starts and runs great with no leaking or smoking! This engine is reliable and very inexpensive to maintain! It gives great torque and is still rated to return excellent fuel economy even by today’s standards! You can see how clean everything is! The six speed transmission felt great and the clutch does exactly what it is supposed to when you want it to! From what I can tell, the only non-stock item on the bike is the D&D aftermarket tailpipe. I do not know if the bike was re-jetted for it but I will assume it has not. D&D does make a very high quality product and it certainly does make the bike sound authoritative when you whack open the throttle. It also can be driven around quietly in neighborhoods if you’re gentle. And here is the VIN plate just so everyone can do their due diligence! No used car is 100% perfect, no matter how well it was cared for. Remember that small blemishes or issues may exist that we have not noted. We do NOT examine every vehicle under a microscope, so small dings, scratches, chips, paint fade, windshield chips, washer motors, bushings, defrosters, loose trim, previous rust or damage repairs, missing trim, loose headliners, missing radio buttons, etc may not be noted, and we will not discount a vehicle because something like this is not noted in the description. We make every effort to fully disclose any major mechanical issues we find with a vehicle (engine, transmission, safety), but others may and most likely still exist. Examples are (but not limited to) dings, scratches, etc, trim pieces that are not in original condition, and/or but not limited to features/options that do not operate. Lack of cleanliness is not a defect! Please use common sense before asking us silly questions like if a car has been in a flood, a major accident, or if the title is clear. We are very upfront in our descriptions and disclose everything we know about a car in it. It is insulting to us that someone would think we would violate federal law and not disclose that a car has sat on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. Our descriptions, including vehicle features, are listed as accurately as possible, although we are not responsible for typographical errors in the listing. We cannot/will not guarantee systems like Air Conditioning. A vehicle’s air conditioning system may operate fine when we check the vehicle and the not when you come and pick it up. This happens if a system has a small leak that we have no way of knowing about, especially when a vehicle sits. The same thing applies to stereos. We will not reimburse for or perform any air conditioning system repair on any vehicle, even if the system is listed as working and it does not when you pick up the vehicle. This also applies to power options (windows, locks, seats, mirrors, radios, climate control, entertainment systems, etc) Being that these are used vehicles, not all original equipment is always included with the vehicle. Items including, but not limited to, extra keys, owners manuals, new car smell, spare tires (jacks, wheel tools), remotes, CD changer magazines, and floor mats, may not be included with the vehicle. The seller will not pay for these items if they are not there, or remove them from another vehicle. Most of these items can be purchased from a dealer or auto parts store very cheaply. Any issue either currently present or occurring in the future, whether disclosed in the listing or not, will be sole responsibility of the buyer, and the seller will NOT reimburse for any expenses incurred, or discount the purchase price! A 20-year old car with 150,000 miles, even in the best of shape, is still 20 years old and still has 150,000 miles. We do our best to accurately disclose all issues, but we have no way of knowing if anything will fail during a trip. When we list a car on eBay we are aware of it being a national marketplace.
