Vehicle Detail

First, a little backstory on this car. I purchased this car in 2004 with the intent to do SCCA Rallycross and later ProRally. During the course of the buildup, I injured my back at work, putting my plans on indefinite hold. I ended up selling the car to a friend before I could really get the project off the ground, but not before doing some extensive repairs and upgrades. The friend I sold it to has driven it for the last 3.5 years, and performed a number of repairs in that time. He and I are both excellent record keepers, and because of this, I have every receipt for repairs and upgrades from the time I purchased the car in 2004 to now. All of these records will be included with the car. So, moving on to the car: 1987 Audi 4000CS Quattro. The car has a salvage history. The current Virginia title is clean. Carfax from when I purchased the car in 2004 is available. Some of the damage from the declaration of total loss is still present, and is minor. I can show the buyer the damage. It does not affect the safe operation or safety of the vehicle. It’s been driven for at least the last 6 years with this damage present, with no adverse effects. Had I not mentioned it, you might never notice. The car had an all-over respray in LY3D Tornado Red in early 2005. Since then, some bumps and bruises have caused minor blemishes on the car, but nothing out of the ordinary for a 23-year old vehicle. Like all 4000s, it has some rust in spots, but I haven’t discovered anything major. The odometer has been broken since before I bought the car, and reads just under 160K, but actual mileage is unknown. I would estimate somewhere in the 250K mile range. It does puff a little bit of smoke at startup if you let it sit for a few days, but does not use oil in any appreciable amount between changes that I have noticed. The car runs well with plenty of power(for what it is - if you know these cars, they are not terribly fast), and handles as you would expect. At the end of the day, it simply needs some TLC and some finishing touches from someone with the time and space, neither of which I have. Radio stations still come in fine. Right side marker lamps not working. All other lights function correctly. Headliner loose around sunroof opening, sunroof headliner missing Sunroof opens up, won’t roll back Power mirrors not working, left outside mirror loose. Driveshaft carrier bearing noisy when cold. Typical buzzes, rattles and vibrations. Radio wired incorrectly. The only real issue here is that it doesn’t store your stations or CD location when you turn the car off. It works perfectly otherwise. Easily re-wired, too. Service History is included with the car. Here’s some of the records from the last few years: 03/14/10 New clutch slave cylinder 01/13/10 Oil change 10/16/09 Oil Change w/synthetic 08/07/09 Oil change w/synthetic 06/29/09 Emissions Waiver granted 04/25/09 Alignment, 4 new tires, passed safety inspection 04/21/09 New Radiator, oil change 02/26/09 New rear muffler 02/07/09 Weld rear muffler 02/05/09 Oil change 12/02/08 Oil change 10/23/08 Clutch pedal assy replaced, oil change 08/22/08 Alignment, clutch hydraulic system service 07/22/08 New LF window regulator/motor 07/10/08 Oil change, new fuel pump relay 04/30/08 New clutch master and slave cylinders, new clutch hose, oil change 02/15/08 Oil change 12/15/07 Oil change 10/10/07 Oil change 08/03/07 Oil change 06/06/07 Oil change 02/07/07 Replaced left wiper arm -----Vehicle sold----- 12/19/06 Passed emissions inspection 11/15/06 New differential pressure regulator 06/23/06 New voltage regulator 04/11/06 New upper radiator hose 06/06/06 Alignment 01/22/06 Alignment …and these keep on going, all the way back to early 2004!
