Vehicle Detail
I am the second owner of this car (a nonsmoker!). Prior to my ownership, the car was owned by a private party in Texas. The car was stored in a warehouse for 20+ years by the first owner without draining the gasoline. When I purchased the vehicle at an auction in 2008, I teamed up with a Delorean enthusiast/mechanic who was also a Delorean concourse judge and we restored the car as detailed below to put it back into near-mint mechanical condition. This concourse judge verified that the 6,037 miles on the odometer were original miles, considering wear on the original tires, condition of the frame, seats, and overall body condition, and the very high percentage of original parts. Now the overall condition of this car is excellent, both mechanically and cosmetically. The stainless body panels are free of any dents or dings. The wheels are ding-free as well and near-mint. The interior is flawless and the original seats are supple and have no tears. Carpet is like new. Everything works on this car, including odometer and all electricals. The A/C blows ice-cold as well. The tires do not have even 1,000 miles of wear. The car has always been garaged and never driven in bad weather. This vehicle has two cosmetic flaws. The top of the binnacle (the sun shield which surrounds the instrument cluster) has a full width crack and a second partial-width crack in the vinyl from sun- and age-related wear (see photo). The other flaw is a 3” crack in the windshield at the very bottom left corner in the adhesive area, which has not changed for the years that I have owned this vehicle. DMC Texas has replacement color-matched binnacles and windshields available. However, this crack begins and ends at the edge of the windshield and therefore, is not of the nature of problem that would require windshield replacement (see photo). The windshield flaw appears likely to have occurred at installation. Here is a breakdown of the restorations: Drained and cleaned fuel tank, new fuel pump and fuel pump relay, new fuel level sender, fuel filter, fuel accumulator, rebuilt fuel distributor, cleaned the fuel injectors replaced all coolant hoses and installed new coolant flushed the clutch and brake hydraulic systems recharge A/C with Freon-12 changed the oil and oil filter new battery, new Bosch distributor cap and rotor, new distributor pulse coil, new Bosch spark plugs and Magnecor spark plug wires repacked CV joints and replaced CV boots rebuilt the clutch master cylinder and rebuilt the brake master cylinder overhauled all four brake calipers, polished the brake rotors, new brake pads all headliners recovered and worn passenger seat repaired New trunk latch and cable New thermo-time switch (coolant sensor) 4 new matching tires (original tires had little wear but the rubber was decomposing from extreme age). Any and all parts for this car are readily available, either through DMC Texas, DMC Florida or Delorean parts specialty suppliers such as Special-T Auto Parts in Forney, Texas. However, this vehicle is set to run well for many years to come. I have more than $27,000 invested in this vehicle but will auction it with an $18,000 minimum bid, only because my only child is starting college this fall and must liquidate. Additional photos available, contact sean.patterson@bausch.com Happy bidding! Clean title. Local pickup is available - car is ready to drive!
