Vehicle Detail
I have been owning and driving BMW cars and motorcycle since mid-80's...I know these products really really well...And I have been a BMW CCA and MOA member for a long time, so I am well networked with people that know BMWs and know how to take care of them...This car was lucky to have been owned by me :) and it will make a great car for someone else! I bought this car in 1997 for my wife at the BMW Northwest, the dealer in Fife Washington and it has lived all of its life in the Portland, Oregon area (ie. no salt and very mild winters). This is an extremely well maintained car and in near mint condition. I bought this car for her because of the many safety features - such as ABS, Multiple air bags, and the many great passive safety features that made this vehicle a super safe car.... 1997 was the first year for the so called E39 model and it was really hard to get a fully loaded version when they were first introduced. This one was fully loaded and had been ordered by someone else who just had traded it back in for a 1997 540iS. The exterior color is the Aspen Silver The interior color is Black First of all let me tell you that this car is really really clean. The paint is perfect and shiny. Most people think that this car is about 1 year old!!! The Montana leather has not cracked and is really really nice and soft. The dash top has not cracked. Nothing has faded. This is an incredibly clean, non-smoker, clean car. This will make a nice car for someone. (Please look at the photos). I am selling this vehicle, since we have too many vehicles and we just don't drive this one any more. I would drive it myself, but I need a bigger vehicle and frankly I am completely out of room... This car is equipped with the following options: Luxury premium Package Montana premium leather interior SunroofComfort seats Heated front seatsPremium sound system BMW 6-Disc CD stacker (in trunk) Homelink - BMW integrated garage openner Integrated BMW phone (this is the old analogue system, I am not sure if it works with the new digital stuff?) Fold down rear seats Pass through ski bag in trunk BMW factory alarm Also, I purchased then expensive (and now rare) 17" wheels which came on the 540iS -- (these are the 2 piece BBS wheels and they are 17" diameter with 235/45 ZR 17 tires) I have all the original marketing material that came with the car new. This means that I have all the manuals, all the product introduction tapes, all the marketing literature, paint sample, leather sample, etc. BMW would give you a 3" stack of marketing paraphanolia and I have them all for you. I am an absolute fanatic about the maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicle. I have a 2" thick binder that shows all the oil changes and all the service work for the vehicle. I have all the paperwork by date and by mileage. Oil changes have been done every 2,500'sh miles -- always Castrol GTX oil and Hengst or BMW filters. The car has been washed every week - mostly hand washed. The vehicle was always maintained by Kuni BMW in Portland, OR and in the most recent years by myself or the local BMW dealer Bill Jacobs in Naperville, IL. What comes with the car? Clear title3 Electronic keys, and two valet keysAll the marketing material / brochures / etc.Service recordsSmall can of BMW touch up paint (if I find it!)A couple of spare Hengst oil filters Just the Recent Service: **Current odometer is 88,303 miles***; so I will list some of the service in the past...I have the record going back to September 1997. July 16, 2010 at 88,261 miles: Evac/Fill/Check A/C April 2, 2009 at 87,310 miles: Engine Oil Castrol 10w/30 and Hengst filter March 13, 2009 at 85,822 miles: New tires BF Goodrich 235/45 ZR 17 February 25, 2009 at 85,766 miles: Replace Fuel Filter/Fix Power Steering Leak/Trunk Switch February 9, 2009 at 85,323 miles: Spark Plugs and Boots February 1, 2009 at 85,317 miles: Engine Oil Castrol 10w/30 and Hengst filter November 29, 2008 at 83,332 miles: Upper Idler Pulley September 28, 2008 at 81,971 miles: Engine Oil Castrol 10w/30 and Hengst filter June 8, 2008 at 79,228 miles: Full Brakes: 4 new rotors/new pads/sensors/DOT 4 fluid May 24, 2008 at 79, 063 miles: Replace transmission oil and filter ... I have the receipts and paperwork all the way to 1997... You get the idea... Flaws (I am going to explain this in an honest way - I would fix these I were keeping the car): The lower idler pulley is starting to make some noise when the A/C is on. I replaced the upper idler pulley at 5,000 miles ago, so now the lower one needs to be replaced in the future. This is no big deal and will cost around $250 at most...Steering -- once in a while I hear a clunk in the steering (it has been doing this since 35,000 miles ago!); I have had it looked it multiple times by multiple technician and they cannot figure it out. They think that we are nuts!! :) I have had the following parts repaired or replaced: ball joints, strut plate, steering system, hoses, etc. --- I just want to disclose this...At some point in the future, you will have to replace something up in the steering system - NOT SURE WHAT THIS WILL COST YOU. ***I am selling this vehicle cheap enough for you to fix it --- Unless you can fix this yourself; assume $1000 for repair worst case***Some minor chip in the front of the vehicle. They have been touched up. ---- Please look at the photosSome minor scrape and flaking of the clear coat on the wheels ---- Please look at the photos (this comes with age) Disclosure: PLEASE ask me questions, and I will do my best to answer your questions. Please decide that you really want to buy this vehicle before you end up being the highest bidder. No Warranty!...This vehicle is a 1997 model year and I am not a car dealer, so I am selling this vehicle as is... Payment: I am hoping that I can sell this car to a "normal" person the old fashion way...but I recently had a terrible experience...so I am SORRY, but I would like the money to clear / or cash before you take the vehicle from me. I expect PayPal OR wire transfer of $1000 within 48 hours and the rest within 5 days... NON-REFUNDABLE... ** I reserve the right to end this auction, since I have it also advertised locally. **
