Vehicle Detail
Up for bids is a 1979 Corvette. KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS A 3 DAY AUCTION!!!!! It has the painted T-Tops. It is an L-48 engine car and am pretty sure its the original engine that came in this car. The mileage shows 57,000 miles but the speedometer and odometer stopped working sometime, not sure when. I am told this is a rather low mileage car but have no proof of that so I must go by the odometer and sell it as true miles unknown. The car has all options that are normally on a 79 vette. Power windows work, power door locks work sometimes, cruise works, has tilt-telescopic wheel, am-fm radio with 8 track, not sure if the tape player works or not, one of the sliding controls is broken off of the heater control, not sure if air works but it is all there, windshied wipers work but you have to work the switch on and off a couple times to get them to come on but I can hear a relay clicking so it probably needs replacing, all gauges work, not sure about clock now that I think about it. The interior is driver quality but carpet is faded pretty bad. It has a 175mph speedometer, not sure if that was an option or an aftermarket add on. Although it does have the corvette emblem in it. I just installed a new windshield. The engine runs good as the transmisson shifts good also. No noise in the engine or tranny, no problems there. I did notice one of the half shafts had a u-joint with some slack in it. The frame has some rust in front of the drivers side rear wheel area which is common with the C-3 vettes. Its nothing major nor does it affect the driving of the car what so ever although it should be attended to. Paragon Vette sells the pieces to repair this reasonable, under $175.00 I believe. Drivers side floor panel needs a little attention but its still strong, just starting to rust on the outer edge a little.. The body on this car is actually pretty good for the model. Yes, it does have a few cracks and the paint is lifting in a lot of areas but nothing I would call major. The front nose is driver quality as is the rear bumper facia but its got quite a bit of warpage in it The doors need adjusted especially the drivers side. It opens and closes fine but there is a larger gap at the top where it meets the fender, and close at the bottom. The drivers glass will actually bump the body when its being closed because of the misalignment but it is an easy fix. The doors seem good as do the fenders. The quarters need some attention near the bottom, nothing major. All lights work except I believe one of the headlights is burned out. The lights go up and down just fine. The drivers side moulding has some damage as I think one of the pictures shows that. It has all 4 factory wheels on it with the center caps. Tires are pretty good and I dont think have any dryrot at all. The exhaust comes through the cross member and has one muffler on it and stops there, no tailpipes. The car runs good and drives pretty good so I see no reason you cant drive this car home. I have only put about 5 or 10 miles on it mainly because it isnt licensed and insured. It runs cool, idles cool. Again, I havent driven it much so if you are a long ways from me you may want to trailer it, thats up to you. Since the pics have been taken I have stripped the paint off both quarters so they will be in primer when you see the car. I can send pics of that if youd like. I started working on it a little when I had sometime but I am getting ready to buy a new home so time and money are scarace is the reason for selling it. This would make someone a very nice Corvette but keep in mind it needs work but theres no reason that I know of that you couldnt drive it while working on it. Also, the T-Tops dont seem to leak although the paint on them is cracked up so they would have to be stripped. The weather strip on the complete car is driver quality but showing its age quite a bit.I dont want to make this car sound like a top notch car but at the same time I dont want to under rate it. It is a running driving car!! Dont know whatelse to tell you so email me with any questions you may have. You are welcome to come see the car in person should you be in the area. Reserve is very, very low but I do not want to reveal it. Should you want to buy it early drop me an offer and we will go from there. If you dont have at least 10 positive feedback you must contact me before bidding or I will cancel your bid, not hard to get along with but the scams on here have gotten really bad. Thanks for taking the time to read this novel but just trying to cover all bases. Good luck should you decide to bid.On Jul-23-10 at 04:33:25 PDT, seller added the following information: These pics were taken yesterday, the date on my camera isnt set right. Thanks
