!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> 1965 Jaguar Mark 2 Saloon For Sale This gorgeous white Jag comes to you from sunny Southern California where it is in the hands of the same owner since 1972! The car was restored in the early 80's and has been driven but always garaged and well kept since. It is an older restoration of course, but it still shows well. The "Concours Crowd" may pick it apart but on the road it attracts attention like mad and always manages to get front row parking in any valet situation. Truly the classic Jag sedan in all respects...beautiful body shape and style. Chrome wires give it a slightly more sporting look with their pinstrip whitewalls. There are a few small scratches as you see above...no major damage of any sort just signs of use and I must say this old cat had aged gracefully. Cracked taillight lens...chrome looks nice. Window seals are a little dry and there is some minor overspray on smaller bits from the respray 30 years ago. The car has been off the road since the late 90's and has been in storage. It will need some minor work to be road ready. The water pump has just been rebuilt and needs to be re-installed, the brakes should be checked out for safety's sake but they do hold pressure currently. The fuel is getting a bit old so it will need to be flushed out. The fuel filters are clogged with sediment...the tank is dirty. The car does start and run briefly on the bad gas, the car does go into gear and move under it's own power. The owner is willing to assist with loading the vehicle on a trailer or flatbed. Just dont expect to fly out and drive it home...but the engine is known to be good and the car will drive again. The car has the factory disc brakes as noted on the rear bum MK 2 badge on the tail. The chrome wire wheels with genuine knock-offs are in excellent shape and the thin stripe tires are a great look. The Jaguar leaping hood ornament and hood badge are in very nice shape. No signs of any accidents or body issues. The engine is a 4.2 litre unit from an early 70's XKE. This engine exchange was done prior to the current owner's purchase back in 72! Engine room is quite clean. Twin Stromberg carbs. The interior is very pretty and was redone in the early 80's during the restoration. Seats and panels were redone in vinyl with velour inserts. It is all in excellent condition, but it not technically "correct "...another tick off the judges tally sheet. Very pretty. Headliner is holding well with just the slightest signs of age along the posts. Interior lights are functional. Woodwork is stunning and the panels look very nice. Flip down tables from the top of the seats. Beautiful woodwork...one of the wonderful trademarks of a Jag of this vintage. The car is a factory left hand driver version, built for import into North America originally. Automatic transmission. Odometer reads 6800 miles which is not correct. Instruments are in great shape as is the wood on the dash. Intermediate Speed Hold...this switch keeps the trans in a lower gear for passing! Other switches and instruments are clean and present. The car has remained garaged and has not been subject to poor weather. The climate is very dry here and the car has survived very well as a result of that. A dreamy find if you want a truly solid one. I stumbled on to this original brochure image online and thought it would be fun to share. In closing this is a very nicely preserved Jag that is ready for its day in the sun again. It will need a bit of tinkering, but is well worth the efforts. In the current NADA guidebooks, the high book value is $57,100 ! This is not a car at the "high" level, but it has the potential to become one if desired and the reserve is a fraction of that price. I feel the car with the mechanicals handled would rate in the "average" catagory which books out in the low 30's. The owner feels confident that the repairs might be in the $1000 range, but lets give more room than that...this is a Jag! With all that being said, the reserve price is very fair and will hopefully insure a timely sale... BID BIG AND BID OFTEN! its time for this long time family member to find a new home!
