The engine is 364 cid version of the famous Buick NailHead engine. It's a rather unique engine design .The orientation of the valves in relation to the pistons, and the way the valve covers sit - they are both vertical. Most V8 engines have the valves leaned out at about a 30-50 degree angle and the valve covers are mounted at a similar angle. The vertical arrangement allows for a very compact engine design that produces gobs of torque at low RPM in exchange for limited higher RPM capabilities - the extreme turn in the exhaust port results in reduced high-RPM breathing abilities.Unique "push gas to start" starting system , also a cool feature this car has is DynaFlow Transmission ,its another option that most cars now or back in the 50's did not have, this transmission does not shift gears. It has a continueis gear that tranfers the power smoothly of that 364 c.i. V8. This car was restored in 2002 to its Original form. Everything on the car beside's ( Tires, carpet in trunk, and paint color) is Original to this car. The Motor,Tranny,Hubcaps, Dash, Steering wheel, Front Back Grill, Tailights, Headlights,Emblems,Seats....etc. This car runs great and that V8 sounds great out of that single exhaust pipe (which is the way they came out of the Factory back in 1958, like I said " restored to is Original Form".The only thing this car needs is: Interior: new passenger kick panel, speedo fixed, speaker's installed to hear radio,minor paint chip on door panels and carpet cleaned.Exterior: Nothing just very very minor spots of paint chip, new weather stripping installed under front window.Engine: possibly new fuel filter.Tranny: Nothing. This car gets looks looks and more looks and thumbs up everywhere we go. You dont see alot of these cars in car shows or anywhere. This car sitting next to 1955 1956 1957 1958 Belair, Thunder Bird, Nomad , Victoria, Fairlane makes those car look infearier.
