Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a 1976 Honda GL1000 with 24,100 actual miles on it. Manufacture date on the frame label is 07-75. I am the second owner. I bought from the original owner in Dec. of 1998, with 10235 miles on the clock. The original owners manual, and tool kit come with the sale. There is also a "Vetter Wind Jammer" fairing, with new vented windshield (it still has the plastic protector down the center) that comes with it. Paint on fairing is in same color as bike (mirage), but with flames by "ART". The fairing is not a complicated thing to install, for cooler months, nor take off for summer. The windshield is vented for when it's a lot warmer at noon than it was when you pulled out that morning. What the eyes see and what the camera catches are 2 different things. Must be seen to be appreciated. Paint goes from blue, bluish green, green, purple, burgundy, red, all metallic, turns gold near sunset. Even the flames change hue, to match the main colors when they change. It was shot with red/blue scheme paint on the ridges, and some accent areas, purple/green scheme change, on the main area of the panels, and it all blends to superb. I even have full cans of touch up paint, 1 base, 1 color, and 1 clear, that will go with it. There is also a second set of mufflers, the cans are short, larger in diameter, angle out a little, upswept, and very quiet . It had sat in the first owner's basement for 15 years ('83~'98). I rebuilt the carburetors and air shut off valve, I cleaned, etched, and cream coated the tank. And of coarse changed all filters, and oil. All this was done back in early '99 and she has ran without a problem since. Oh, I put in a new clutch, just because I could get to it easy while the gas tank was out. And replaced seals in the forks. Oil and filter change twice a year since. The brake calipers (all 3) were cleaned inside and out and rebuilt. New seals and dust boots in '99. Brakes have been bleed with a "Mity Vac" 3 times (to change brake fluid) though my watch. Now has Dot 3 Synthetic fluid. Yes, it's compatable, and good stuff. New pads on rear, front are in good shape. Brakes are good on both ends. Final drive lube also changed in '99. I have replaced all the mounting nuts in the radiator area with Stainless Steel Acorn nuts. The Mag/Cast wheels are tube type, I've never seen another pair like them, with 7 pairs of spokes. Front is standard size, rear is 16 inch, she sets a little lower than stock by 1 inch. Electronic ignition by Dyna. The paint is DuPont Mirage lacqure with more coats than I remember. And gives up a multitude of colors. The bike attracts attention. The valve covers, timing belt covers, intake tubes, top of carbs, and front calipers were all polished at one time. And all still look pretty good. A little Mothers Aluminum Polish and some rubbing will bring the polished look back where it is dull. New Battery installed on April 10, 2010. Front tire is Dunlop and it is starting to dry, I see some cracks in the sides, the rear is IRC and is in good shape. There is some surface rust on a lot of the chrome parts, and a few chips and scrapes on the paint, looks great for a '76, but the old girl is coming up on 35 years since being on the show room floor. I was fixing to clean her up a little before taking photos for this auction and I let her fall over on the right side. This run in with freakin gravity broke the right rear turn signal and put a small dent in the tach cover (shown in photos). I could take that as a bad omen, but I think it was more stupidity. The turn signal and the tach bowl can be found easily here on ebay, for a fair price. Is there a few things that can be done to it? Nothing that would keep one from riding! Is it worth way more than the starting bid? Oh **** yeah! I would not feel embarressed or that I ripped anybody off to get 4 times the starting bid. But, it is a no reserve auction, so final bid gets the bike and all that goes with it, what ever the bid is. The bike runs great, rides great, starts great, idles great, sounds great, stops great, and looks great. And the engines are known to be bullet proof dependable, it nothing to get 100k miles out of them. Please, serious bidders only, check with your significant other (wife/girlfriend/room mate). This bike sold about 2 weeks ago, on eBay, and the winner had to back out on the deal. His loss, and his wife's decision, could be your gain. Pick up, I would feel safe riding the bike for any distance, all fluids are fresh. But the bike is used, so it is sold as is. Shipping it? I really don't know how to go about that. You give input and pay all cost and I will try it. N.A. Motorcycle Freight is within 5 miles of the bike. Good luck on the bidding. There is No Reserve on this Auction, it Sells for the Final Bid!!! I also have the original Georgia Title for the bike.On Jul-17-10 at 20:59:50 PDT, seller added the following information: In spite of what I have written in the listing, the bike does not have 24,100k (24,100,000) miles on it. Actual mileage on the bike is 24,100.
