Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a great car. My wife and I bought this car for my 16 year old daughter, who is now 18. We then got her a new car and I took this car over as my daily driver to work. The car is a 1999 VW Beetel GL with a standard 5-speed transmission. It is a 1999 model so let me begin by telling you everything bad about the car first. It has some minor dings and scrathches, after all my daughter drove it before me. HAHA. There is a dent under each door that is not noticable to most people that was there when I bought the car. My wife and I didn't even notice for 2 weeks after we bought the car because it runs along the bottom of the doors. There are three small spots on the front of the car where the clear film is coming off (see picture). One plastic hub cap was stolen, when I was parked at the movies, I saw a replacement on ebay for $32. The seats have spill stains on them, I didn't even try to clean them, so they may come alot cleaner if cleaned, I instead bought brand new seat covers for the front seats. The headliner is starting to fall (see picture), but was not bad enough for me to replace yet, I checked on prices and it can be replaced for around $80. The trunk and gas cap have an electronic switch by the front seat , but it is malfunctioning so you have to use the key and open the trunk manually like all the good ol' cars. About 2 months after I took the car over from my daughter, the check engine light started coming on from time to time, and the car would putter slightly. I kept planning on taking it to the shop, but it really didnt effect the drivability of the car so I just gassed right on through the putterring (this usually happened around 20-30 mph). Then the most awful thing happened, the A/C stopped blowing cold. It was time to take it to the shop. I took it in and they put it on the computer and told me the slight putterring and check engine light was due to the car needing a simple tune-up. He said spark plugs, spark plug wires, and an air filter would do it. He gave me a quote of $200 and then said the air conditioner compressor needed to be replaced and quoted me $600 for that. I told him I would save up the cash and be back. Well I have been driving it daily 84 miles round trip since then and sweating like a pig, up to 3 weeks ago when I lost my job and am starting a new venture. So Now she's for sale. The good stuff about this car: It still gets 30mpg even needing a tune up, it is equipped with a Delphi satelite radio system with a wireless remote control complete with instruction manual, it is also equipped with a Yokohama 6-Disc CD changer in the trunk and a JBL 100 watt 2-channel amplifier in the trunk as well. It has brand new seat covers and front mats, it has a full size spare tire not a do-nut, and the tires are in great shape too. It is registered and inspected, good through December of 2010. Car comes with owner's manual and some maintenance records. This is really an awesome bug and I hate to get rid of it. I listed everything I can think of that make this vehicle less than perfect and all of these items can be fixed for less than $1,000. Or dont fix em and drive it as is like I was, maybe fixing some things as you go. You will be very happy with this car.
