Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a mostly original 1961 Chevy Corvair Monza 900 coupe . This car features a 145 c.i.d 84 hp with a power glide trans with 34,000 original miles. This car was off the road and stored inside since 1994. . Recently a new fuel tank ,and sending unit were installed, and the carbs cleaned out . Once this was done she fired up , She ran rough but ran . A complete tune up was done and she ran much better but not perfect . I took a compression check and found 90 to 125 p.s.i. in all cylinders further investigation uncovered the problem to be a stuck lifter. I dropped the pan , cleaned out the pump screen and changed the oil and filter The car now runs fairly well but I would figure on replacing all the lifters at least for a perfect job. The tranny shifts fine and the car rides well. The body on this car is really solid , the floors are rot free, I had some epoxie paint left over so I cleaned and painted the floor pans gloss black. The outer body including the lower fenders , doors and quarter panels are nearly rot free. The trunk well and the battery box had been repaired at one time, not by a pro but it is good enough for now. The paint had some surface rust on the hood and top of the left fender and a little around the back window I took it down to bare metal , coated with preventative, primed and painted it. It is presentable for now All the stainless is nearly perfect and the white metal chrome is still shiny with minor pitting . The paint appears to be at least mostly original with some fade and alligator cracking. The glass is all good and the windows work . The weatherstripping is mostly in good shape . All the important lights work . The dome light switch on the driver side needs replacement The left directional does not cancel The heater blower does not work, I have not checked it out . The radio works the wipers work. The horn does not work but I believe that is because someone removed it from the car . The interior is clean. Front driver side bucket has one seam rip. The top of the back seat needs to be done due to heat and sun damage. The carpet looks good but it should be replaced . Drivers side door panel needs to be redone There are four nearly new tires, front end is tight. Brakes will stop the car but they should be done That's the description. All in all I think this is a pretty good Corvair . I think that for under 3,500 bucks you could be cruising this summer and for under 5,000 bucks you could have a real nice car and that includes the price of the car itself. Great way to break into the hobby Why am I selling it ? Because I searched high and low for a 4 speed with no luck . Two weeks after I bought this one guess what I found. I need this sold so I can work on that. Please ask questions , I want to see someone be happy with this little car You can also call me at 631-880-8489 I will also include a shop manual for 61 and the 62 supplement. Thanx for looking
