Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1964 Jaguar Mark X With a 1964 Jaguar XKE engine I have an antiquity company in the middle of Texas. We specialize in fine antiques and collectibles. Once in a while my customers turn in a classic automobile or motorcycle. This is one of those items: We received this Jaguar from the owner who bought the car new. The owner said that he put a low mileage 1964 XKE Jaguar engine in the car, and drove it for a month or two. Then the car was parked in 1984 in his barn until we picked it up last week. It needs a complete restoration as it has not been driven for 26 years. The car has a clear original title. Since I do not know anything about the Jaguar Mark X, I retrieved some information for those of you who have time to read it: In the mid-1960s, the Jaguar Mark X Saloon was priced at around $7,390 which was about $2,000 more than an E-Type or a well-equipped Cadillac. Still, it was about half the price of a Bentley S3. Production of the Mark X 3.8 lasted just three years with production reaching nearly 13,000 units. Fewer than a third of them were left-hand drive cars built for export. The Jaguar Mark X (pronounced mark ten) was the top-of-the-range saloon car built by the British manufacturer Jaguar, and was originally aimed at the United States market. The substantial doors required helical torsion springs inside the door pillars to enable them to be opened from the inside with an acceptably low level of effort. The Mark X was the first Jaguar saloon to feature independent rear suspension. It used a wider-track version of Jaguar's IRS unit first seen on the E Type, and was subsequently used on Jaguar vehicles until XJ-S production ended in 1996. Front suspension used double wishbones with coil springs and telescopic dampers. Initially Jaguar's XK in-line six cylinder engine was featured, with 3781 cc. A 9:1 compression ration was standard, but an alternative 8:1 compression ratio was available as an option[3]. For the London Motor Show in October 1964 the enlarged 4,235 cc unit took over, although the 3.8 litre unit could still be specified until October 1965[3]. Triple SU carburettors were fitted, fed from an AC Delco air filter mounted ahead of the right hand front wheel. Transmission options were manual, manual with overdrive or automatic. . Please, please, please be sure that you have the money to purchase the car if you are bidding. Remember that this callasic car is over 44 years old. Please remember that things always look better in pictures. So you are more than welcome to come see it in person, and if you are not sure, please don’t bid. I’m into antiquities and I don’t know that much about automobiles in detail. Please come and check it as I am expressing how I see the vehicle. Your bid is your contract. Please place bids only if you are serious about buying the item. If you are the winning bid, you are entering into a legal binding contract to purchase the item. We require a $300 non-refundable deposit immediately after the bidding closes, and the remaining balance within a week. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. All of this being said please take a look at the pictures and ask any questions you may have. Or come by and check it out in person before you bid. The car will be sold as is, with no warranty or guarantee.
