You are bidding on: A VERY NICE COMPLETELY FACTORY STOCK 1982 HONDA CB900F SUPER SPORT THIS IS A 100% ORIGINAL, UN-TOUCHED, UN-RESTORED SURVIVOR WITH ONLY 8,600 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT FOR YOU CALIFORNIA PEEPS, IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL BLUE CALIFORNIA PLATE NOTHIN BETTER THAN A BLUE PLATE BIKE HUH? THE GOOD: ALL SYSTEMS ARE IN PERFECT OPERATING CONDITION, SUCH AS BRAKES, LIGHTS, HORN, GAUGES, ETC. THE CARBS HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY REBUILT FROM THE GROUND UP SO TO SPEAK. ALL NEW GASKETS, O RINGS, DIAPHRAMS ETC WITH HONDA PARTS AND WORK PERFECTLY WITH NO LEAKS. THEY LOOK AND WORK LIKE NEW. SO THERE ARE NO WORRIES WITH THE CARBS AT ALL. EVEN THE PETCOCK HAS BEEN COMPLETELY GONE THROUGH AND WORKS PERFECTLY. THE PIPES ARE IN GREAT CONDITION, THE CHROME IS BRIGHT AND RUST FREE AND THERE ARE NO NOTICIBLE BULGES FROM RUSTING BAFFLES, AND THERE ARE NO RUST HOLES AT THE BOTTOM WHICH MOST OF THESE SEEM TO HAVE. THESE ARE NICE SOLID GOOD LOOKING PIPES. THE ONLY BUMMER IS THAT THE TWO CENTER PIPES HAVE "BOTTOM OUT" DENTS BUT THEY ARE WAY UNDER THE BIKE, SO YOU CAN'T SEE THEM UNLESS YOU KNEEL DOWN AND LOOK UP. THESE 2 CENTER PIPES ARE EASILY REPLACED WITH NICE ONES, THEN THEY WOULD BE A PERFECT SET OF PIPES. THE PAINT IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL - THE FRONT FENDER, TANK AND TAIL SECTION HAVE BEEN REPAINTED BY A HIGH END PAINT SHOP AND IS STUNNING! THE SIDE COVERS HAVE THE ORIGINAL PAINT AND STRIPES ON THEM AND ARE BOTH A 9 OUT OF 10 CONDITION, WHICH IS WHY I DID NOT HAVE THEM PAINTED. THE PAINT MATCHES PERFECTLY TO THE ORIGINAL PAINT ON THE SIDE COVERS THE GAS TANK IS GORGEOUS! THE PAINT IS BETTER THAN NEW AND IT IS CLEAN CLEAN INSIDE, ALTHOUGH IT HAS BEEN "CREAMED AND SEALED" REPRODUCTION STRIPES WERE USED, BUT THEY ARE 98% CORRECT TO THE ORIGINAL. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF VERY MINOR FLAWS IN THE STRIPE DECALS FROM INSTALLING THEM, BUT THE TANK IS SO BEAUTIFUL, THEY ARE NO WORSE THAN TYPICAL FACTORY FLAWS THAT THESE TANKS COULD HAVE HAD FROM HONDA. BELIEVE ME, YOU WILL LOVE THE BODYWORK ON THIS BIKE. THE SEAT IS LIKE NEW. IT HAS A COUPLE OF STAINS ON THE SIDE BUT I WILL TRY TO GET THEM CLEANED OFF BEFORE YOU TAKE DELIVERY. OTHERWISE THE SEAT IS REALLY NICE. ASIDE FROM YOUR TYPICAL CORRODED ALUMINUM COVERS THAT CAN BE POLISHED OUT TO LOOK LIKE NEW, EVERYTHING ON THE BIKE LOOKS PRETTY GOOD FOR A 30 YEAR OLD SURVIVOR. AS YOU CAN SEE, IT HAS LOW BARS ON IT, BUT THEY ARE NOT SPORT KIT BARS, SO I WOULD TEND TO WANT TO REPLACE THEM WITH STOCK BARS OR PUT A FULL ON SPORT KIT ON IT IF I WERE TO KEEP THE BIKE. THE BAD OR NOT SO GOOD: THE ENGINE STARTS RIGHT UP AND IDLES AFTER A BRIEF WARM UP. NO PROBLEM, MAINLY DUE TO THE CARB REBUILD. HOWEVER, I BELIEVE THERE IS A BURNED VALVE IN THE NUMBER ONE CYLINDER. THE COMPRESSION IS VERY LOW (50-60 POUNDS) IN NUMBER 1 AND ONLY +/- 100 IN THE OTHER 3. SO, NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE HEAD NEEDS TO BE GONE THROUGH. I HAVE RIDEN THE BIKE AND IT WILL GO DOWN THE ROAD AND SEEMS TO HAVE GOOD POWER DELIVERY, BUT IT OBVIOUSLY RUNS LIKE IT HAS A BURNED VALVE, MEANING ITS POWER DELIVERY IS NOT SMOOTH. I BELIEVE THAT THE HEAD IS ALL THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. THE ENGINE DOES NOT SMOKE AT ALL AND THERE ARE NO FOWL ODORS OF OIL OR GAS, SO I AM SURE THE RINGS ARE FINE. I BELIEVE AFTER THE HEAD IS DONE, THE COMPRESSION WILL BE AS GOOD AS NEW. IF THE WINNING BIDDER WANTS ME TO DO THE HEAD BEFORE THEY TAKE DELIVERY, I CAN DO THAT FOR TIME AND MATERIAL AT 50.00 HOUR., WHICH IS LESS THAN MOST SHOPS. THE ONLY OTHER PROBLEM THAT IS RELATIVELY MINOR IS THAT IT NEEDS FORK SEALS.
