1976 Honda Gold Wing

This auction is for a 1976 Honda GL1000 with 24,100 actual miles on it. Manufacture date on the frame label is 07-75. I am the second owner. I bought from the original owner in Dec. of 1998, with 10235 miles on the clock. The original owners manual, and tool kit come with the sale. There is also a "Vetter Wind Jammer" fairing, with new vented windshield, that comes with it. Paint on fairing is in same color as bike(mirage), but with flames by "ART". The fairing has been setting outside for a couple of years and will need cleaning up, and the windshield has yet to be mounted, still in the box that it shipped in. There is also a second set of mufflers, the cans are short, larger in diamiter, angle out a little, upswept, and very quiet . It had sat in the first owner's basement for 15 years ('83~'98). I rebuilt the carburetors and air shut off valve, I cleaned, etched, and cream coated the tank. And of coarse changed all filters, and oil. All this was done back in early '99 and she has ran without a problem since. Oh, I put in a new clutch, just because I could get to it easy while the gas tank was out. And replaced seals in the forks. Oil and filter change twice a year since. The Mag/Cast wheels are tube type, I've never seen another pair like them, with 7 pairs of spokes. Front is standard size, rear is 16 inch, she sets low, this also geared her down a little from stock, I suppose. Electronic ignition by Dyna. The paint is DuPont Mirage lacqure with more coats than I remember. And gives up a multitude of colors. The bike attracts attention. The valve covers, timing belt covers, intake tubes, top of carbs, and front calipers were all polished at one time. And all still look pretty good. A little Mothers Aluminum Polish and some rubbing will bring the polished look back where it is dull. New Battery installed on April 10, 2010. Front tire is Dunlop and it is starting to dry, I see some cracks in the sides, the rear is IRC and is in good shape. There is some surface rust on a lot of the chrome parts, and a few chips and scrapes on the paint, but the old girl is coming up on 35 years since being on the show room floor. I was fixing to clean her up a little before taking photos for this auction and I let her fall over on the right side. This run in with freakin gravity broke the right rear turn signal and put a small dent in the tach cover (shown in photos). I could take that as a bad omen, but I think it was more stupidity or age. The older I get (now 56), the more this gravity crap seems to affect me and the things around me. Selling due to health issues. Pick up, I would feel safe riding the bike for any distance, all fluids are fresh. But the bike is used, so it is sold as is. Shipping it? I really don't know how to go about that. Brakes have been bleed with a "Mity Vac" 3 times (to change brake fluid) though my watch. Now has Dot 3 Synthetic fluid. Yes, it's compatable. New pads on rear, front are in good shape. Brakes are good on both ends. Final drive lube also changed in '99.
