Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1960 Metropolitan What we have here is a 1960 Metropolitan that came out of a 22+ year sleep. It is the yellow and white combination. The last plates were dated 1986. For some DMV screw up reason the prior owner did not get to retain the ORIGINAL PLATES that came with the car, since it has always been a California car. It appears to have the original paint. Some time in its life the right fender and door had been scraped and repainted. It is flaking off a little (see photo) but I did not fix it since it is only original ONCE and let the new owner decide what he wants to do. There is very little surface rust from scratches worn paint etc. There are two small dents, one on the passenger door and one on the passenger quarter panel, Again these were not fixed to show how origin the car is. The bumpers over riders also have a few dents, again PATINA. The car is EXTREMELY SOLID including the fenders, rockers floor, etc. with no evidence of repair or damage What has been done: Gas tank cleaned New exhaust New Fuel Pump New carpet New original pattern upholstery New shocks New seat belts Wheels were sandblasted and painted New tires, radial New brakes all around Rebuilt cylinders and master cylinders New rubber around doors and trunk Radio Rebuilt by professional The car runs and drives very nicely with a few rattles, few leaks and a little smoke. It has around 96,000 miles. This is a very nice driver to enjoy and display as original at car shows. And if you want to improve on it you can do it at your leisure. The air cleaner is not correct. All lights and wipers work except for the idiot oil pressure light (sender broken). The heater switch has been altered. There are no door or trunk keys. CLEAN CALIFORNIA TITLE< CURRENT REGISTRATION AND INSURED. It could be driven home but highway driving really taxes the engine and it is 50 years old. I am selling due to weaning the herd. . Got too many toys. The reserve is very reasonable considering the original condition of the car. Buyer pay for and make arrangements for pick up or delivery.
