Vehicle Detail
Attention Trans Am and Smokey and the Bandit Fans! This car is being relisted due to a security breach of my account. Its the same vehicle. Up for auction is my 1981 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am. History: In 2005 I imported this car from Canada. It was manufactured in Ohio be then exported to Toronto. It re-entered the states when I brought it back in 2005. The owner was the 2nd buyer of the car and stored it in the garage for over 14 years. I bought it as an investment at the beginning of my college career. The owner sold it to me and gave me the appraisal he was given. It was appraised for $14,000. Because the car was stored for so many years, it only had about 34k miles. The title is clear and there are no major problems with the car. The car still has extremely LOW MILES 64k miles! Current: As I previously said, the car was an investment. I intended to keep it all original to the true Trans Am style. This car is SO rare because its turbo charged. Trans ams are almost a dime a dozen anymore but this one isn't. Especially in the condition its in. And not only because its turbo charged, but because its original. Most importantly the engine. Its the exact engine GM installed which is not true of other turbo charged versions as people have retrofitted them with non turbo charged engines. This car is already a collector item and the value will contine to increase. This car is a "head-turner" and I can't stop to get fuel without people starting conversations about how neat the car really is! This car is guarenteed to increase your popularity! Ok...not really. But its still cool! As if it just rolled off the line in 1981. I have made some restoration efforts with the car but it needs YOU to take it the rest of the way. I will list the progress: Needs to done Small oil leak at valve covers Air Conditioner (non operative) Cruise Control (non operative) Parking brake (non operative) Rear brakes (currently bought and in the trunk) Dome light cover Ash tray (its missing) Headliner What I've done Front brakes New turbo exhaust system from CAT back New Goodyear Nascar tires (the original tires were on it when I picked it up) Did a valve job (having been stored, they were a bit dirty. The cylinders were in perfect condition) New battery This is a great car to drive and the car has a unique turbo feature. Not only does the car provide boost, it has a special hood scoop with lights when turbo activated. (see picture) I was hoping to finish the car completely however my circumstances have changed in that I need something more economical for the southern CA freeways. I love this car and regret selling it! The car is in great condition overall. If I was rating it on a scale of 1-10 (ten being best), I would rate it an 8. The car has imperfections and still needs some cosmetic and minor mechanical work, but its still in good condition. While it needs some TLC, its certainly not ready for the junk yard AT ALL! Minor SURFACE rust exists on the car which is easily sandable. There is no body rust that penetrates the metal of the car whatsoever. The body is straight and needs almost no body work before repainting. The car would look excellent in new paint (as would ANY car) but its still looks good. Why should you buy this car? 1) Its truly a great price! Starting bid is $8,000. Please see the NADA link below. http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-22-1-5013-0-0-0&l=1&w=22&p=1&f=5014&y=1981&m=1143&d=135&c=11&o=35558~35565&vi=84481&z=96130&da=-1 2) This car is still a great investment! Starting bid is $8,000. If won, you could put a small amount of money into it, allowing you to sell it for $14,000 (or more) per the NADA link above. 3) Its so fun to drive! With removal t-tops and and turbo lights, this is guarenteed fun! 4) The EPA is about 17mpg in city and about 22mpg on highway. 5) If your an experienced mechanic or beginner, this car is perfect for you. It still runs and this could be a hobby or everyday car. Its completely versatile. Looking at this video might help you.
