Vehicle Detail
This car has been sitting outside for a decade. I bought it as it is right now with the intent of working on it. I though I could do some body work and put a more modern drive train under it. I have not touched it since the day a towed it home 2 years ago. Right after I bought it, my wife and I had a daughter and I see now I will never have the time to work on it. Scrap iron price is over $200.00. The Caddy has a title, most of the chrome (98%), door handles, dash knobs, window trim, and side trim. Missing hood ornament is a notable exception. I was told it was stolen when some kids shot out the windows with a BB gun years ago. There is no glass, rear driver’s side fender has been pulled out. It looks like maybe a tree was growing in it, like it was pushed out from the inside (fixable damage). In the same place the rear bumper is twisted a little. Tail lights are gone. Interior looks original right down to the burlap covered seat springs which you can see due to a decade of sitting outside. The floors are gone at least on the drivers side. I did not look to close. I really have done nothing with it in the two years I have had it. I think it is way to far gone for a resto but would make a cool rat rod or custom if you want to add a whole new drive train. Or, a great parts car. It has lots of nice chrome and does not appear to have been wrecked. Only major rust I see is the floorboards. No guarantees though. The tires held air when I aired them up 2 years ago to tow it home. This body style looks very close to the 1952. The front bumper is different. The 1953 Caddy is one of the best looking cars ever built. The front bumper is I-conic. New this car would have cost about $4,000. and weighed over 2 tons. Previous owner said it was running when they parked it, but I don't think it will run. Ask any questions. On Jun-10-10 at 19:47:35 PDT, seller added the following information: I have added photos of the motor and trunk of this classic car, at the request of a viewer. I hope this answers your questions. On Jun-15-10 at 20:58:08 PDT, seller added the following information: I added more pictures to show the air conditioner in the trunk, since it seems to be rare. It is GM FRIGIDAIRE, marked "Made only by General Motors". The knobs and unit in the cab, as well as the compresser, under the hood, are also there.
