Vehicle Detail
1999 Malibu LS v6 3.1L – Leather – electric driver seat – electric flip up/sliding sunroof - CD player This car is still in good condition but does have a few age-expected needs. If you’re a mechanic with some time, this is a great deal for you! I am forthcoming about the condition of the car. I am a mechanic so I am very specific on its needs, so please do not get discouraged by my candor. It always has been a very reliable car! The clear coat is still shiny – it has never been in an accident – there aren’t even any dings or dents to speak of. All routine maintenance done on time throughout its life. Has ALWAYS been reliable. This Malibu has been in the family since 2001 (was wife’s parents’ car before ours), but it is now our 4th vehicle in our 2-1/2 person family - it’s time to let it go. Kelly Blue book value – Good condition w/147,263 miles = $2,300 Body is in good condition, only surface rust are a few bubbles below the gas cap, small bit on wheel-well corners, and small amount on the inside bottom of the doors (pictured) . The leather inside is good, except the driver seat has multiple splits. It is still supportive and comfortable - seat cover included. All other interior is in good condition (dash/carpet) but there is a small tare on the back upper-seat leather. There are no squeaks, rattles, or shakes - it is a solid car. The steering wheel does shake when braking due to the warped rotors. It handles very good as the suspension performs very nicely. Everything inside works – heat/air, cruise, electric driver seat, cd player, automatic lights, electric/sliding moon roof, etc… no problems there. Kelly Blue Book value (fair condition) is $1925, considers the following; -Drivers window motor (window stuck 1/4 open) – can get window motor at salvage yard for $20. -Driver’s seat leather has multiple splits (seat cover included) -Needs new brake pads (in <5,000mi) and front rotors (warped) -fuel gauge doesn’t work. Need to fill up every 300 miles, measured on tripometer; or install new sender -Tires have about 25% tread life left. Please also consider the following while bidding: -engine knocks only when cold due to a stuck lifter (6 new lifters = $90) -differential just started making a grinding type noise before I parked it: is probably just a bearing inside but unless you’re a transmission expert, you’ll need a different tranny (quoted $250 for salvage tranny w/warranty). Is possible it is simply a wheel bearing. (replacement = $80) -labor to put in new tranny (7 hour job) @ $65/hr = $455 With everything considered, a fair price for this vehicle is $1,100-$1,200 It does drive still, but I would caution driving any long distances as is. I would fix and sell at full blue book value if I had the time – but with two jobs, a new baby and many house projects; I just don’t have the time. If you put in some time with this car, she’ll last for a good many more miles or make you some money! Please let me know of any questions! On Jun-08-10 at 18:34:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I input the VIN wrong: it is actually, 1G1NE52M3X6127099.
