1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Two Door - Triple Black - 85,000 Original Miles This is a beautiful, black, low mile Delta 88 creampuff. As you can see in the photos, the front bumper and fenders are damaged. The functionality and performance of the car are unaffected. This car will drive anywhere. If you are still interested in the car, please read on for more details. I am an Oldsmobile lover. I bought this car in March intending to fix the body damage and enjoy it. Within a week of buying it, I found a low mile, original ‘78 Holiday 88 and bought it as well. I have been trying to justify keeping the black Royale ever since. But I just cannot see keeping the car any longer. I bought the black Royale from the son of the original owner. This is what I was told about the car. His father bought the car new in Florida where it spent the majority of its life. Recently, (within the last couple of years) the elderly father had the accident which caused the body damage. The father had to give up driving after this. So the son brought the car to his home in Wisconsin and had been driving it on and off since bringing it up from Florida. It is a factory triple black car with the Oldsmobile 350 engine and TH350 transmission. It has power locks, manual windows, air cond., tilt, and add-on cruise. It has the Superstock III wheels with chrome centers instead of the body color painted SSIIIs. It also has some nice “extras.” The car has the factory gauge package and the lamp monitoring system; which are somewhat rare on these cars. It’s nice to find them on a car in this condition. Everything works except the A/C and the clock. The clutch on the compressor is bad and the belt has been removed. The car runs and drives excellent! It is strong, smooth and quiet. The sheet metal on the car is in great shape. There is a ding near the driver’s door lock and two light ding/dents on the passenger door at the molding level. Both sides of the car appear to have been repainted at some point. Based on the on the overall condition of the car, it does not appear that rust has ever been a problem. The undercarriage, frame, brake and fuel lines, etc. are all in excellent condition with only light rust showing in a few areas on the frame. The interior is incredibly clean. The pictures do not do it justice. There are no cracks or tears or fading anywhere. No sagging headliner. The carpeting is excellent. All buttons and controls are there and they work. The tires are good with about 50% tread. The car leaves a few drops of oil on the floor after sitting for a week or two. Nothing major, but it needs to be mentioned. Regarding the damage: All functions of the car are unaffected. The hood opens and closes perfectly. Both doors open and close fully with no rubbing or scraping on the fenders. All lights and signals are in perfect working order. There are no broken lenses. The headlight buckets and mounts are all intact. There is no bouncing or movement of the headlights while driving at night. There are no rattles of any body parts. This is my opinion only: The car could be driven in this condition for the rest of its life. The impact on the front of the car was at a low center of gravity on the bumper. The core support seems unaffected. The fenders have supports which are mounted to the inside of the bumper. When the bumper bent, it bent the supports which then bent the fenders. The bumper and fenders seem to have absorbed the impact. The center mount behind the fiberglass header panel also bent when it absorbed the impact. The car will be sold as is with no warranty of any kind. You will be responsible for pick up/shipping and any taxes, registration, or inspection fees associated with the purchase.
