1965 Mustang Fastback This Mustang is being relisted because the first buyer could not come up with the money to complete the purchase. Please, if you do not have the money in hand to purchase this car plese DO NOT BID! You will lose your deposit if you cannot complete the transaction. You’ve all heard the stores about “barn find” cars, this is a real one. This car was found in a Tennessee barn so far out in the middle of nowhere that I doubt it would have ever been seen again had I not found it. The barn this was stored in was at the top of a mountain, far from the road that brought me to it. We cut a path with a tractor and bush hog just to get to the barn. Once there you couldn’t even open the barn doors because the trees had grown up in front of them. The car was last tagged when the father put the title in the son’s name on February 22, 1974. Although the title was transferred at that time I believe the car was never driven. The license plate was still in the car and it had a 1973 sticker on it. No new tags were ever issued to the car. Based on that information the car has been setting in that spot in that barn for 37 years. I can’t say this as a fact but that’s how it looks. The odometer is showing 35,803 miles on the car. If the car has been off the road since 1973 or 1974 then I would guess that is the actual miles. Another thing that makes me feel that is correct is the lack of wear on the interior and pedals. The brake pedal shows NO wear. We all know how the rubber wears off the left corner on high mile cars. The interior is in amazing condition for its age and has never been recovered, which also leads me to believe the mileage is correct. The car has been through some interesting transformations in its life. According to the door tag the car was an original six cylinder engine with a three speed transmission. The clutch pedal and four lug wheels support that claim as well as the vin stamped on the fender apron. Sometime in its short life on the road it has a different engine/transmission installed. Being a one owner car it had to be done by the dad. My reason for making this statement is there are two square motor mount like metal sections welded to the front frame rails (see pics). It looks as if they were used to mount a different type of engine into the car. The shock towers have also been cut to allow for a large engine and its manifolds/headers (see pics). The underside of the car shows evidence of a homemade cross member on both frame rails under the front floor pans (see pics). They also modified an area of the dog house to allow for a larger transmission. It is pretty obvious that something really large was put in the car. None of the modifications are beyond correction though. The car now has a six cylinder engine and automatic transmission. The car has no options, no AC, no PS, no PB, no console. However, this car is ALL THERE. Other than the change of engine/transmission sometime in its short life it is perfectly original. I was surprised to see the limited amount of rust on the underside of the car. Usually setting over a dirt floor will take its toll on the bottom of a car. This was a nice dry dirt floor and probably the reason the seats aren’t falling through the floors. You will notice in the pictures that I marked all the rust spots with blue paint. I wanted the buyer to see exactly what I see. The only frame rust is on the very rear of the car at the spring hangers. Both sides have the typical ‘swelling’ of the spring hangers. If you are familiar with vintage Mustangs you’ve seen this before. There has been some rust repair in both lower quarters, the passenger wheel house and in the trunk on the driver side and across the back. All though this car is amazingly original and looks to have very low miles, there has been some rust repair in its life. The DSO was Chicago so that doesn’t surprise me. I found it in a Tennessee barn but it must have lived part of its life in the Chicago area. I was pleasantly surprised to see the deck lid is original and perfectly rust free, as is the hood. Both doors appear nice on the underside as well. There aren’t even any rust bubbles on the fender aprons where the fenders bolt on. This is usually a very common place for Mustang’s to rust. I suggest full restoration/refurbish of this car. It has been setting in a barn for many, many years and is not running. The engine is stuck, the brakes don’t work and the tires are from the early 1970’s. This is a project car, not a daily driver. I have owned 170 Mustangs in my life thus far. This is my first true barn find. If I did not have so many projects in line for restoration I would keep this car for a future restomod project. I have the original small yellow Tennessee title with this car. This car was only transferred from dad (original owner) to the son. Although that makes it a two owner car, I don’t believe it was ever driven after dad passed it down. The father and son have the same name so it could be said that this is a true one owner car. I have extensive pictures of this car starting as it sets in the barn up until Sunday when I got the brakes free so it will roll properly. I have tried to explain this car as accurately as possible. The pictures will give an even better description of the car. This car will have a very fair reserve. If it does not reach the reserve I will simply keep it as yet another project car on my list. Finding an original 1965 Mustang fastback with only 35k miles is unheard of these days. I will also have the car for sale locally and reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I own a restoration business and will gladly offer the car in current condition or in a refurbished/restored state to a local buyer. Be sure and click on the link to the photo bucket of pictures. As the say, a picture is worth a thousand words. I have dozens of pictures of the car from top to bottom. They should answer most any question you have. I will gladly export this car to any country. I have an extensive background in this field and can make all necessary arrangements. As with all my auctions, I try to be as open and descriptive as possible. Feel free to ask any question you wish and I will answer it as accurately as possible. My feedback represents my good business practice, feel free to check it out. I have NO tolerance for non paying bidders. If you do not intend to buy, please don’t bid. I require a non refundable deposit of $500 by paypal on this car. NO EXCEPTIONS! There are too many scammers out there these days. Ask your questions before bidding. If you do not send a $500 deposit on the car, do not show up to buy it! I will gladly assist in loading the car and would consider delivery within a reasonable distance (for a fee). Enjoy the photo bucket of this car. It will take you from the day I loaded it on the trailer (buried in dust) up until Sunday when I rolled it out of the shop. This would make a great restoration project for the right father/son combination. Your chances of finding another 1965 Mustang fastback with 35,803 miles is slim to none. Bid with confidence and bid to win! NOTE: I have one good shock tower that I will put with the car when it sells.
