Vehicle Detail
1929 Chevrolet CoupeMatching Numbers 6 cylinder**Rust Free** In a sea full of Fords why not drive a Chevy... at least that is what I thought when I saw this car. This is an extremely nice example of a rare factory 6cylinder hot rod. 1929 Chevy coupe bodies are much more modern with their flush well fitting doors and sleek cowl! This car is from a Texas estate but was previously from Lake Arrowhead, California. The fluids were drained and it was put into an insulated storage building for the last decade here in Texas....we got it, gave it a bath, added fluids, a new battery and she fired right up and went down the road superbly. It is hard to find vintage cars with in this type of condition. She has been stored indoors and well cared for and it shows. Ready to cruise now or make into your own hot rod! Perfect parade car or conversation piece..... The best way to describe this car is by its pictures. I have owned a few hot rods over the years and appreciate the way this one drives, its rust free body and rot free wood! Truly the wood and metal on this car are a pleasure to look at, even down to fine details of the metal and wood doors. The fenders are excellent, the body is great....again look at the car and you will appreciate it! If you have any questions on specifics please give me a call (818-398-1829 Jeff) and I can go over it with you. I always welcome questions because something specific may be important to you. Very comfortable car since I am 6'5" and cant believe the room left over! This '29 is great to drive, it runs, shifts and brakes with ease. Actually a simple car to drive compared to many older ones. Ready to cruise now, use as a business display or promotional vehicle or make into your own custom hot rod! The Engine: Powered by the "Cast Iron Wonder” 6 cylinder engine, developed by the Chevrolet engineering department under the leadership of Ormond E. Hunt and, later, James M. Crawford, developed 46 horsepower from 196 cubic inches, giving it a 15-percent advantage over the four-cylinder Ford Model A. It is shifted by a 3 speed manual gear box and runs and drives great. It also has a cool old tool box and parts/tools that are in the trunk that stay with the car! The Options: This ’29 was optioned with the front and rear bumpers and 20” solid piece wheels with like new white wall tires. 1929 advances included the use of a mechanical fuel pump to replace the time-honored but troublesome vacuum tank, and foot-controlled, twin-beam headlamps. All the gauges and lights work excellent other then the speedometer/odometer no longer work. It even has the "Ahoogah" horn that is always a pleasure to hear. Paint/Body: The cars paint is a nice older paint job that works well with the antique look of the car. It does have the normal minor flaws since it was probably painted 15 or 20 years ago. It appears to be a single stage paint job, there is not rust bubbling or rust repair work visible at all. The car is extremely rust free and can be appreciated for its nice body! The fenders are metal, of course, and are really great without any dents and just some minor surface rust where some rubber wore on the passengers side...please look at the picture because am I not even sure it is worth mentioning. The bottoms of the doors and where they meet the car have NO RUST at all! Again, very very rust free, very very well kept through the years. Interior/Trim: The interior has a a burgundy velour interior that shows minimal wear and was probably done a few years back. The headliner does have some staining that could be removed with a good detail. The gauges work except the odo/speedo. The painted dash does have some cracks throughout so I would recommend repainting it. The steering wheel is in really good shape. The wood floors are in good shape. The glass is all like new. The brightwork on the car looks original to me and is in good shape, it does have some hazing or pitting here and there...what you would expect from a 15 year old restoration but way better then you'd expect for an 81 year old car! This car has always been a collector car and garage kept or it would have deteriorated. Wheels/Tires: The wheels are also in great shape and pretty cool item. They are 20" and wrapped in a very good set of Firestone white walls. It is obvious that this car has been taken care of its whole life. It is not a fresh restoration car but rather a well kept car that appears to be extremely original. I am not fluent in all 1929 original car stats, but am familiar with "rust free" and "honest" cars so if there is something specific that you would like me to inspect or photograph please let me know. This estate car is a piece of history that is a pleasure to look at.
