My nephew bought this car some 12 years ago and had plans of making a 1/4 mile weekend car out of it. That never happened, rather than let it sit at his mothers house and take up room, I'm selling it for him. The car is currently on a non-op, but he misplaced the pink slip, so it will be sold with a official CA DMV bill of sale and statement of facts. The car needs COMPLETE Restoration. UP FOR AUCTION IS: 1963 Mercury Comet Custom 1 of 6303 built in 1963 2 Door Sedan 170 cid 6cyl 2 speed Merc-o-matic auto trans 3:20:1 rear end gears Originally Champagne color Bullet tail lights Split front bench seat, may not be original, bolt holes in floor look like there may have been buckets Clean front grille Bumpers show some use but are useable or repairable All original sheet metal, no signs of body work or wrecks Dash is complete and pretty clean Glass is good Issues with the car All interior material is no good, someone glued carpet pad to the front seat and covered with seat covers. The back seat is still original. Passenger front side of bench is unbolted from seat frame, don't know why. Someone added an extra set of tail lights, look like reverse lights, there is a extra pair of bullets in trunk,chrome has some pitting, lenses are junk. A couple of places of rust, drivers floorboard, under drivers door along rocker, not the door itself. One place along the roof rail, trunk has a little, but nothing through. Thats all I could see. One dink in drivers side front fender trim, one screw in a rear drivers side piece, all the passenger side is very good. One dink in drivers side window trim, the rest looks good. One comet script on drivers fender is cracked. In the engine compartment, the carb is missing, but air cleaner assembly in trunk. Water pump, fan and distributor cap missing. Missing one door panel. Trunk lock works well with original keys,both door locks are missing. The car obviously needs complete restoration,I did not put a battery in and check the wiring. It needs work, but would make a cool little Hot Rod with those finns on the back. It's a car that could be worked on pretty inexpensive and you won't have to spend a lot to get it.
