Vehicle Detail
Here is a very nice 1961 Chrysler Imperial 4 door hardtop. A friend of mine bought it a few years back from the original owner. The car has lived it's whole life in the San Francisco area , until coming here to Texas a few years back. Although it can NOT be proved since the past owner has passed away, the is a very good chance the car has only 17,000 miles on it. I had a antique auto expert come out and do an inspection. here are a few of his thoughts on the mileage. - Car has the original water pump on it, bolts never touched by a wrench. This car would have gone thru a water pump had it more miles. - Car still has some of the original belts on it, not likely on a car with more miles. - I inquired on the few dents, scratches (which are minimal) - probably due to the man living in the city and having trouble seeing over the fins. This car runs excellent , new exhaust, tires battery, gas tank, all within the last year. Below is from the original owner listing, and also a link to more info / photos. http://www.imperialclub.com/Yr/1961/61CutDown/index.htm We recently saw this white Imperial for sale. Notice how the rear fins have been cut down. Compared with other '61s, it makes for a very unusual car. Other than this modification, this car seems very clean and well maintained. Here's what the seller had to say about it back in July of 2004: The vehicle is in running condition and is a nice car. The original owner drove this car until his family took his keys away after his ninetieth birthday in 1989. The bumpers have a few dents and some flaking. There are a few scratches and dings here and there, no rust in the quarters, no rust in either rocker panel, and no bondo. The frame rails and floor pans look great, and the truck pan looks good. The interior and exterior chrome has some pitting and there is some small surface rust here and there from those old dings and scratches. The interior is great and excellent for a daily driver, but the front bench has tears in the cloth, drivers arm rest is tore and taped, the backbench is great, the headliner is clean, and the interior passenger rear door handle is broken. The dash and carpet look great, but not all the dash gauges work. The glass is all there but there are a few small chips in the windshield. The car had been sitting for 15 years and some things needed to be attended to after that length of time. It has a reconditioned fuel tank and radiator, a new fuel pump and filter, new plugs and wires, new distributor and points, ignition coil, starter relay, and voltage regulator. Needs carburetor and brake work. The 16,800 odometer reading cannot be confirmed as the original owner is deceased. This is my honest description of the vehicles condition. This is a clean California car that has lived its entire life in the San Francisco Bay Area Here is a link from a few years back with more photos / info. http://www.imperialclub.com/Yr/1961/61CutDown/index.htmOn May-16-10 at 06:37:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is a very nice 1961 Chrysler Imperial 4 door hardtop.
