Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a laser-straight, numbers matching 1970 Chevelle Super Sport LS5 convertible that will not disappoint the most discerning collector. I have been told over and over that this is the most perfect representation of paint work and body fit ever seen. This vehicle has undergone a total rotisserie frame-off restoration at a cost of over $50,000.00. This car has the original F 41 suspension, 12 bolt rear end, disc brakes, big sway bar in front, boxed arms in rear, and frame has the bars from top to bottom. It is believed to be correct in every way. From the top down, here are the details: This car has a brand new black convertible top. All the stainless has been expertly polished (original)-very nicely done. All new glass, all new weather stripping, and rubber weather stripping has been installed. The interior features original bucket seats which were professionally completed using Legendary vinyl seat covers, including new seat foam. The door panels have also been replaced using the Legendary vinyl. The dash was fitted with all new gauges, new wiring, and new tack. The clock and AM radio are original. (Radio is currently not working-this is being addressed). This is an original 4-speed console car with reverse locking ignition. Body is laser straight. It has a base coat and clear coat. Car features GM cowl induction hood. The paint code is 26, which is bright blue metallic or Mulsanna Blue. Car has new front and rear bumpers with a new SS rear bumper pad. The car is fitted with GM NOS tail lights and front turn signal lenses. The car features new GM wheel moldings, new gas tank and sender, new door handles (outside/inside), and has a three-spoke steering wheel with completely reconditioned tilt column. All the wiring is new. Engine compartment consists of four core new 4-speed radiator, NOS GM fan shroud, and new GM horns. Engine has been professionally bored 30 over, forged aluminum pistons, and 10:1 compression. It has been restored with hardened seats for unleaded fuel, making it friendly to pump gas. Heads have been completely reworked with new valves and springs. The engine has been balanced and was run on a Dyno before being installed in the car putting out close to 400HP. It has new hydraulic comp cam to original specs, which is for an LS5 454 motor. It has a 12 bolt rear 3.55 gears posi, which has been totally rebuilt and is correct for the car. There are new wheel cylinders, bearings, brakes, new rear boxed upper and lower control arms, and new bushings. Suspension includes new front and rear coil springs and shocks. There are new calipers, rotors, and all new A-frame upper and lower bushings. It has correct lower A-frame arms with the round style A-frame bushings—NOT oval which is correct for the LS5 big block. Car has been completed with all new stainless brake and fuel lines. Car features big block steering shaft complete with a new power steering pump and steering arm. This is an original power steering car with new steering box. Car currently sits on 14x7 original factory SS wheels with BF Goodrich TA radials mounted on the front wheels. Car has been fitted with matching 15x8 SS rear wheels with BF Goodrich TA radials to enhance the stance of vehicle. This is a cowl induction car with cowl induction hood. Drive train includes new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing; driveshaft has been fitted with new U-joints and professionally balanced. Transmission has been professionally rebuilt; shifts smoothly and quietly. It has an after-market chambered exhaust—this car runs, sounds, and drives great! I could go on and on with the rest of the things that were done to this motor. There was no cost spared to restoring this motor and car. I have owned this car for approximately one year. This is the first classic car I have ever purchased. Therefore, I wanted it to be as perfect as I could find. I was hoping to have what I consider to be a flawless driver. However, I have been told by my appraiser, my insurance man, and other collectors that this is a museum grade car and should not, under any circumstances, be used as a daily driver. This is not my wish, but it is the reality. I am therefore offering this vehicle at auction at a very low reserve amount with a buy-it-now price of $82,500.00 which I believe to be at least $20K below its auction value. I am not desperate to sell. This is your opportunity to acquire one of the most flawless and perfect specimens of a 1970 Chevelle LS5. I am sure that I have missed some details. So, if you have any questions, email for my phone number. If you are the winning bid and are out of the area, I can arrange to pick you up and drop you off at the airport. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Car is offered for sale locally.
