Vehicle Detail
1980 Jeep CJ-7 for sale. I bought this Jeep two years ago instead of an atv for hunting and farm cruising. It is great for hunting and trail use but would need a fair amount of work to be a road driver, but it would be a good base for a project. There is a video on you tube available from last week, just search CusackMotorsports. The rims have more surface rust than is visible in the picture and video, but they are decent. What it has…. - new radiator last year - new starter last year - new plugs and plug wires last week - new cap and rotor last week - new Duraspark computer last week - 7 inch spring over/shackle flip lift - 3 inch body lift - good 35in BFG mud terrains with full tread, never seen pavement, they have some aging cracks, right rear has very slow two week leak - very little rust on YJ tub, just a few small spots on ribs on bottom - frame has been sand blasted and painted with por-15, has been reinforced over rear springs, also has some slight rust on underside - fiberglass front fenders - good metal hood and grille - I made front bumper, my first, it needs lower mounts fixed and polished stainless plate needs a tack weld to keep it from rattling as it does in the video - bikini top (only top I have) - good 258 and good/rare torqueflite 999 transmission What it needs…. - lift height has caused some angle problems, rear spring perches need cut and cv driveshaft needs installed, I’ll give you one from a 79 Bronco and you will need a napa 1330 to 1310 u-joint, front spring perches need to be cut or shimmed and the front axle to be placed at the correct angle to improve steering geometry - Front brakes have a recent leak and don’t work, actually only leak on Jeep, rear brakes can barely stop it, drums probably need rebuilt - wiring is a mess, I would rip it out and get a new wiring harness -needs window installed, window included - needs title, I lost title but have name of previous owner and address It has been a very good Jeep, if you spend two hours and less than 100 bucks on the front brakes you will be ready for hunting or farm use, If you want a driver it will be more work, but it’s a good starting point
