Vehicle Detail
I have been buying/selling on ebay for many My rating is 100%. So, what you read is the true reality to the best of my knowledge. Please note that the pictures were taken a few days ago. So, it should indicate 2010. The camera was set wrong at 2008. The car looked much better when it was in the garage. It now has collected dust. I am the third owner. This Lotus Esprit Turbo SE with only 23,568 miles has a 2.4l, 4 cyl engine with 5 speed transmission. It is the rare (original) blue with hand made two tone leather interior (very light tan and tan) and removable top. History: I bought the car in March of 2006 because it was in the greatest shape (I looked for one for 14 months) with very low miles (22,928 miles). I took it to the shop that I have trusted for more than 15 years. They confirmed that it is an excellent car. As a matter of fact, the interior was almost like brand new. Engine, Trans, Turbo, etc. were all in great shape. Since then, I have changed the oil with 20-50 Synthetic oil every 6 months. I drove the car for a few miles (until it gets to the right temperature) once/ once every other month to make sure seals do not get dry. Since I bought the car, I have changed the battery, fuel pump, etc. Nothing major. I also had them fix the windows (apparently a problem on Esprit'S). Windows now work fine (do not come up and down as fast as new cars). I had a few minor problem before the accident. I had a very minor oil leak from the oil filter housing. I was told that the oil filter housing needs to be changed. I did not do that because it was dripping oil almost 5 drops every month. I never had to add oil. The original Blaupunkt stereo makes a minor noise when you turn it on. I was told that I need to spray it with a "contact cleaner". The wipers worked but, the washer pump was not working. I did not pursue the cause. This is one of of the cars that I have truly enjoyed. It is even more fun that my 2001 BMW Z8. The accident gives me the opportunity to buy another toy! Have clear title in hand, 2 set of original keys, original User Manual, tools, and a set of new mats (you do not see it in the pictures because I removed it). The Lotus was ALWAYS garaged and detailed twice a year. Accident: I cut my left hand with a chain saw about 3 weeks ago. When I was returning home (missing driving the car!), about 50 yards from my residence, at a speed of almost 15 miles, I got a shooting pain in my left hand and I lost control of the car. I went over a short curb and hit a big tree! Very smart of me! Since the car was running (engine and transmission is in the back) and I was only 50 yards from away, I drove it home. Since it was cold (early in morning) and the distance was short, I was sure that the anti freeze leak due to damage to the radiator, would not damage the engine/turbo. I had the car towed on a flat bed to the shop that I trust. But, these guys are specialized in cars made of metal not fiber glass (like Lotus, Corvette, etc.) So, I thought may be the message is to buy a new toy! I reside in Chevy Chase MD (20815) but the car is at the shop located in Rockville (20850). The Carfax is clean and will stay clean because no insurance or police was involved in the accident. I was told (by the shop) that damages are as follow due to the accident: Front nose and the hood is damaged. Head light motors are bent.Windshield is broken. Passenger front wheel is bent and tire is damaged (please note that the other 3 wheels wheels did not go over the low curb). Brake hydraulic booster is bent. A/C is not working. Fiberglass fire wall is cracked. There are paint stress cracks on the columns A & B. The board under the car was not damaged. Prior to accident, it already had couple of minor paint stress cracks and a few paint chips that was not worth it to fix. General: Please note that when I took the pictures, the car was facing the sun. The shadows you see on the seats is due to the cracks on the window. There are no cracks on the seats, dashboard, etc. Interior is in excellent condition. Some of the other pictures are not good because or the sun shadow. I took the pictures with a 10 mega pixel camera so you see as much details as possible. Of course, due to dirt (car has been outside and covered by a turp in the shop) the pictures to not do justice I have a few parts (oil filter, etc.) that will be provided with the car. The clutch is strong. the shop looked at the timing belt, they did not find a crack, etc. I do not know when they were changed. Please note that I plan to sell the car as a whole. So, please do not ask me If will sell engine, trans, or other part. Serious inquiries only.
